A tad complicated, but all in all, simply awful.

CyberDoc999

CyberDoc999 reviewed v3.4.1.0 on Dec 28, 2014

difficult to use...
also on my other browser I can record shows by just clicking on them

Why should you NOT use it??? It's a great program.

Does exactly what I need.

Keep up the good work.

borisf98

borisf98 reviewed v3.3 on Mar 21, 2013

Why would you need it? There are plenty of websites that have TV schedules. It is also in Java which should be banned by now for the worst record in software security history.

I don't have the problem that the previous reviewer has. Never heard of anyone else who does either. I really like this software. If you are in one of the countries where it gets channel listings it's definitely worth a look.

This is a strange program, As it can get it's data from radiotimes.co.uk here in the UK but only finds the BBC range of channels. I use FreeGuide that ALSO gets it's data from radiotimes.co.uk but has the FULL range of UK programs. This to me just seems stupid, as it already has the plugin to accept radiotimes.co.uk data but this program only list a fraction of the chanels.

Spends 10 minutes scanning for channels everywhere in the world...except Canada, therefore totally useless in Canada.
Schedules Direct is not free and has nothing to do with TV-Browser (spam!)

Love it. Used to use Digiguide, but actually prefer this.

robster2001

robster2001 reviewed v3.0 Beta 2 on Mar 11, 2010

Users in the USA and Canada have to subscribe to Schedules Direct for this program to work.

Once you've done that, it works very well indeed.

coover

coover reviewed v2.7.3 Beta on Feb 27, 2009

I will not downgrade this because, I personally, cannot use it, but this software is virtually useless for folks in the USA.

The only US stations listed are the Armed Forces Network and the Pentagon Channel.

So, for areas where it is useful, I'll grade it a 5. For me ... I can't use it.

Useless for me because it shows no Dutch TV.

Very nice smooth fast program.
Gr8 overlock of tvprograms.
Best tvbrowser yet.

I so much like this software, presently running it alongside DigiGuide in the UK (DigiGuide does cost though). If the beta versions of TV-Browser are anything to go by, this is gonna rock before long. Give the developers time to get things running smoothly and who knows - the US could even get covered.

north america?? never heard... whats that? ;D

EUROPE rocks! :]

Quote myboy:
"Obviously missing the largest TV viewing market in the world (North America)."

Europe has twice the population of North America who work far fewer hours, have far more holidays, fewer homeless and a higher 24/7 electricity power supply....

vifins

vifins reviewed v2.7.1 on Oct 1, 2008

As long as you live in one of the supported countries, it does what it should. I use it every day and have no problems with it.

myboy

myboy reviewed v2.7.1 on Sep 30, 2008

As of version 2.7.1, this program only includes support for the following ten countries:

1. Australia
2. Austria
3. Croatia
4. Czech Republic
5. Denmark
6. Germany
7. Norway
8. Sweden
9. Switzerland
10. United Kingdom

Obviously missing the largest TV viewing market in the world (North America).

Still, I'd probably rate it higher if they actually alerted you to this fact ahead of time somewhere...

some guy

some guy reviewed v2.7.1 Beta 1 on Sep 13, 2008

you should list you only support 9 countries.
maybe call it the 9 country tv browser

anomoly

anomoly reviewed v2.7.1 Beta 1 on Sep 12, 2008

Has some kind of potential just not sure what that is. Installs and uninstalls & runs portably but all it would apparently do is open a browser window. The program itself was fine other than the fact it does nothing.

cltx99

cltx99 reviewed v2.7 RC2 on Jun 13, 2008

installation won't complete and gets hung-up.

Tao2005

Tao2005 reviewed v2.7 RC2 on Jun 13, 2008

I been reading reviews, and I came to a conclusion. This program is a desent program, and it works rather well. Now some one said that this program is slow, and digiguide is faster. Well that may be true, and this program may have limited options, but its free. Digiguide isn't. :P

flibberyGiveIt

flibberyGiveIt reviewed v2.7 Beta 1 on May 28, 2008

Slow? Not on this box.

Was going to time everything: setup from the the
installer, setup from starting the program....

Okay. xx:15.04. install to default programs dir,
sure, why not. Click ok And UPS Guy knocks, has
my shiny new toy that won't play while charging
but does have a directory structure to look at.
And some already installed stuff. So....

TV Browser takes about 3 sec to load with two
channels "installed" and downloaded
Which is some 10 sec. to "Man, I think I'll walk
the two blocks to the convenience store and get
a TV guide" secs. _quicker than the local news-
paper's online listings using Firefox 2.0:
Sol.exe takes less than one, jasc psp 9 takes
about 30 sec (and I get the idea that this
time is set by the rogrammer, and does not de-
pend on the system. I don't recall why I have
that idea.).

A thing that can make programs like this one seem
to be slow is having a connection that gives slow
responses.
Things that can make a connection give slow resp.
include a slow connection, a slow computer, a
bloatware firewall/antivirus, a program that is
hogging upload bandwidth, or a user that isn't
aware that the program requires user input to do
as it should.

It seems that I could load channel sources that
aren't in the presets but I'm to lazy/got no real
reason to.

;p I'm rating as five out of ten because: ten for
functionality, and zero for not realizing that I
am the center of the universe and so not having
presets for KY, USA.
Or so as far as I can tell presets that aren't
Britain, Germany and/or Australia.

@democlees
To slow? In comparsion to what?

I use the program since several years and I like it, because it has so many Plug-In's. Especialy I like the reminder-function.

So it's by me.

democlees

democlees reviewed v2.6.2 on Dec 31, 2007

its to slow and digiguide does it better faster and with more options

monzi

monzi reviewed v2.6.2 on Dec 29, 2007

Well. It has all the 30-40 channels i can see on my TV. It downloads almost all the programs, though some are in swedish..
The reason for me that it doesn't work as a proper replacement for a TV guide is that its too slow! It takes too long to load the program. It takes too long to download all the information for the different channels. I.E. i still find it much quicker to just click onto an online web-based TV-Guide.

Funny. Get a passport so that one can watch tv in europe is getting a life? someone does need to get a life. Did I miss the change language icon at the top of this page? If so let me know.
Nice to know what you are missing but it sure as hell isn't much.
great program for those that need to check up on tv listings b4 they hit the concord running-lol

lufc

lufc reviewed v2.6.1 on Dec 25, 2007

YES! There is a B-I-G world out there outside the USA! So .. NO! It's not useless.

And.. NO its not mainly German TV. It has all the British terrestrial and Satellite as well as the Spanish Digital +, French etc etc etc

In other words.. the major European TV stations..

Get a passport! Get a life!

phoenix@2

phoenix@2 reviewed v2.6.1 on Dec 25, 2007

For now mostly support for German stations so outside Germany it's currently useless.
Nice idea: 4

anomoly

anomoly reviewed v2.6.1 Beta on Dec 19, 2007

It does have CNN (us). That is the ONLY channel available. It did download info but considering CNN never sleeps IS kinda useless. Website is german and didn't see any plugins either. Useful if for nothing more than to see what you are missing.
For a great US guide (online)
