Publisher's Description

The Ultimate Cheat List! contains over 17,000 codes, hints, cheats, trainers, reviews, game companys and walkthoughs for PC, Nintendo 64, PlayStation, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Jaguar, SNES, Genesis, portable, and classic systems. It has two methods of cheats - fast updated text and database updates which are updated more often. In addition, it has seperate categories for Strategy Guides, Universal Hint System files and also has a very simple company viewer and game review database separate from the main screen.

It comes fully loaded with the TUCL File Updater for updating company information, reviews, cheats, etc. All of the cheats are editable from the program. You also get advanced features like saving cheats, opening cheats, saving cheats as HTML pages, saving as RTF, as well as the ability to open all those formats. It also gives you the ability to add your own companies, reviews, UHS files, patches, or trainers to the list.

Ug, not again. I'm sorry but all the previous critiques apply. It is SO much easier to type "Halo cheat" on any search engine than download this 5 meg file and then try to fiddle with your OS to get it to work. Please reconsider this product and code something more worthwhile--even a webpage hosting all these game cheats..

Sean, some friendly advice.

You are making the mistake I have seen over and over. Starting off with a grteat idea, then expanding the scope of a program until it becomes too big to keep stable. You are trying to do way to much with this program. 'Jack of all trades, but master at none' is my thought of this proggie.

By trying to do too much (game reviewer, cheat database, IRC client,...) you are losing focus on the program's real intent. Trim the feature set down and make the intended real purpose of the program kickass before adding features back in (a plug in interface would be nice for that).

Not well designed/no real error support.

And the crap about instable systems... lol
they just need to provide the files users are missing, becuase some users do not have em!

Their interface/usability is a joke btw :P

From the web site:

"I get errors what can I do?

If you get errors and you don\'t know what they are, please report them if possible, if they are other errors such as ocx or dll errors, it could be infact that your operating system is very unstable and not able to handle the power of TUCL. Windows XP / 2k work the best for they are very stable operating systems."

Yeah, please explain to Jane Doe computer user why she needs to completely reinstall her OS that's been working fine? Or why she should be spending money to upgrade to Win2k/XP for a freeware program of dubious need?

Not Quite sure if this will fit in here but this is a "Review". I agree with Death-Axe, this is childish we need to get back to what reviews are ment to do, review :-). After messing around with it for maybe 5-6 mins I had it working fine. I really like the idea of this, finding cheats for snes is kind of hard now with broken links and such and it does make it easyer, So over all it's a pretty descent program, but I'm giving it a 3 because I had to mess aground with it to get it to work.

Whats this i see? a bunch of children fighting over some program. I havent used this program, but i will do soon. When I come to this site I expext to see people writing reviews about the programs in question. That is NOT what I am seeing. I'm seeing a bunch of children fighting. Beta software is for grown ups.

Atleast I have friends, nuff said. If you can code better do it, id like to see you make a program with all these features and try to keep it bug free. Try reading a help file, it can explain a lot. Oh ya, I bet you think 3d studio max sucks to because you have to read a help file for that to. Keep up your disses, I know what people want and im obviously doing a good job.

Another stunning release showing Seany187's ineptitude. Come on betanews, if you are going to allow seany to post his crapware, at least delete all the reviews from is high school Orange County friends. As for my review: If it smells like crap, looks like crap and feels like crap, then it must be the crap that clings to the porta-potty. This one gives beta software a very bad name. Much easier to enter the cheat description you are looking for into a search engine.

Well after using this program once. I knew it was one of a kind. The idea for this program is outstanding and very original. I have seen no other's quite like it. I definatley give this program 5/5. It is fast, efficent, and reliable. I think this program has the first 5 ive ever given. Well done on this one guys.

i think that is program is great. I love being able to download codes for my playstation 2 and this makes it so much easier. I give it the ultimate rating a 10 if i could. For all those who havent tried i think you should try it. This program is awsome.

I love the idea behind it, but the interface needs some clean up, and it also needs to run more smoothly... keeping in mind it's still the 1st beta. Keep up the work, this is very useful freeware:)

michaelward

michaelward reviewed vXP Beta 1 on Mar 4, 2002

Only portions of this program worked, and not the important parts at that. I downloaded the cheat files, it spent 5 minutes downloading and unzipping the files, then it promptly told me I hadn't downloaded any cheats when I tried to look for them. Not good. The interface is clumsy at best. This has potential, but considering the amount of time it's already been in development, I don't think it will ever be realised. Keep trying, but please listen to people when they say *IT DOESN'T WORK* - because, really, it doesn't

Seany, I thought I already told you to give it up. You and your f** friend can give all the 5 star ratings you want. As you are a terrible designer, if you feel you've done a 5 star job, then you need to perhaps take another software design course.

You know what, hehe, we forgot the ocx file :( that is REALLY bad, a common mistake, I accidentally replaced it with msinet.ocx so we had that twice... whoops... I made a second build just before final and must of accidentally did it, and ocx probs should be fixed now :) As for the program, its not about innovation, its more of my luck charm, I worked on it for like years, its the only thing that moved me towards webmastering, I could care less if its a good program to you people, just as long as its useful to someone which it has proven to be :)

JezJester

JezJester reviewed vBeta 5a on Sep 13, 2001

Well the good news is that it managed to install fine :)

The Bad news is

'339 Component 'SSLstBar.ocx' or one of its dependencies not currently registered: a file is missing or invalid '

Keep trying Seany, you'll get there.

Rancid_Sid

Rancid_Sid reviewed vBeta 5a on Sep 12, 2001

Seany,
I'm actually a software tester by profession, working in high profile companies (Microsoft - Business Apps Division - to name one). I've been testing both manually and primarily automated (Winrunner, Astra, Rational Robot, Performance studio) for 5 years, so I believe I'm more than qualified to judge whether an application is of 'Commercial quality'. Unfortunately, TUCL is not. It lacks any intuivity, it obviously hasn't been through any structured testing.. (interoperability, system, unit) and it lacks decent support from it's author. Beta testing does not involve installing solely on clean machines.. it does not involve installing apps on platforms that you know it will work first time on. Testing, is a pseudo-science. Try to predict the unpredictable and install in various configurations of systems. 'Can' the project.. you're embarassing more yourself with every comment you make, and every revision of code you release.

Jdallen

Jdallen reviewed vBeta 5a on Sep 12, 2001

Seany, once again you screwed up royally. Your immature attitude is disgusting. Many of us here have years of computer experience beyond your meager "talents". Now on to the review: CRAP, CRAP, CRAP. It won't even run on a clean install of XP build 2600. I get the following error: 339 component 'SSLstbar.ocx or one of it's dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or is invalid UltimateCheatList TUCL:: Loading TUCL'. What is this S*** can't you even program to register your components? This one sucks guys, don't bother.

pk2000

pk2000 reviewed vBeta 5a on Sep 11, 2001

All previous critiques still apply. I still question the NEED for such a program that takes up any kind of HD space and still doesn't work. To be fair, Seany does say "TUCL requires VisualBasic runtimes and other OCX files", too bad I actually ahve Visual Basic 6.0 with the latest SP installed and I still get the same error as above..Oh, I'm sure I'll get flamed by the author for this post, since his kneejerk response to ANY criticism has always been the same. C'mon, let's face it, if someone is a regular here at BetaNews, I wouldn't exactly consider them novices. Yet his staunch stance of "Novice users may experience problems" is just a politer way of him saying 'If you can't make it work, you must be dumb' like always. Funny thing is, I've never read a positive review of this program that wasn't an obvious friend of the authors. Posts either fall into 2 categories with NO middle ground. 90%+ have been 'This doesn't work' or 'This never has worked, give it up' while the remaining have been self-congratulatory circle jerks saying stuff like (paraphrasing here) 'This is the BEST program EVER!! I have NO problems with is, if you do, get a life and leave Seany alone' (No lie, I remember a few posts like that..)

Give it up, Seany. If anyone wants cheats from a source that WORKS, just go to you favorite search engine and type "______ cheats" and you'll find more cheats for game ______ than it takes to download this bloated 4.0 meg install..
