Publisher's Description
Total Network Inventory is an Asset Management and Tracking application for home, office, and large scale enterprise networks. It interrogates all machines on a network and reports back with complete information about OS, service packs, hotfixes, hardware, software, running processes, etc. on remote machines. This information is added to the centralized database and administrators are able to generate reports about each or all machines on a network. The program is agent-free and requires no software installed on remote machines. Total Network Inventory has been designed with the user in mind, which is reflected in its interface that provides quick and unobtrusive navigation through the program.

TNI 3 works smooth and fast for me in contrast to web-interfaced programs. Spiceworks ads annoy me, so I tried few other solutions and then ended up with TNI, and I don’t regret it. Fast support, no limitations in full version, friendly interface, they really made a great software. Highly recommended.

In addition to the limitations mentioned in the previous post, also take note of the $95 price tag. An alternative, Spiceworks, is far more comprehensive and configurable, works at incredible speeds with excellent accuracy, includes access to KB's and forums for a myriad of things, AND, comes with the price tag of TOTALLY FREE forever. No hidden charges or limitations. Just Free

It's limited in features. there's no automatic scanning of remote assets, it found only 10 out of my 22 machines, though they all have the same configs (almost, just a couple are laptops). being written in delphi (as far as I can tell) it gave me several weird errors in most unexpected places. the scanning process is way too long for me.
