"In the latest releases there are NO spyware/adware/malware/viruses!"

Eh, so why there was trojan originally?

I think once the reputation is tarnished, it is hard to gain users' confidence again.

Look at it as a punishment for deceiving users who were willing to give this software a try. Now people will have second thought before installing.

All reviews up to now are for the *obsolete* versions of the program! In the latest releases there are NO spyware/adware/malware/viruses!

Please conside downloading al least version 1.1.188 and then post a review ot vote.

Here is a bit more detailed description of the program:

TweakFX is a configuration tool for Microsoft Windows based systems. It can change hundreds of system and 3-rd party application settings which are not usually accessible through the operating system UI, or are very deeply hidden.

Compared to the hundreds of so called "tweakers", TweakFX has some interesting key features:

TweakFX is plugin based
Generally, a plugin is a small program which "plugs" to a bigger one and extends its functionality. Usually, one of the main characteristics of a plugin is that almost everyone with a programming experience can create it, even if he doesn't work in the company developed the "big" program. Creating a plugin for TweakFX doesn't even require any programming experience! Thus, TweakFX is in constant development.

TweakFX just works. And you know how!
Ok, we saw that everyone can extend the functionality of the program with these plugins. Here comes another plus -- plugins are open source. They are designed as a simple Web pages opened into the build-in Web browser. If you are curious what do they do -- you can simply open them in Notepad and see!

Apply all settings to a number of computers
When you change some setting(s), TweakFX can save what you've changed as a registry entries file (.reg) and you can easily re-apply the setting(s) onto another computer without having to install TweakFX. Also, in the .reg file, Tweak FX will save the old setting value for you -- so later on, you can discard your changes.

Manage remote systems
TweakFX provides an additional server program -- you have to run it once on a remote computer, and knowing its IP address, you can easily connect to it and manage it just like you are used to managing your system.

First of all, this software is a tweak, which means it tweaks the settings in your windows, and that is exactly what spyware also does and therefore your AV or Spyware detector might detest this as being loaded with spyware.

It is not, it is a great program with so many possibilities, so back off your bloodhounds.

To me this program is very useful and I definately intend to keep it.

WARNING:
Don't even download this thing which is loaded with trojans as my AV warned. Even on deletion, it somehow unloaded its cargo & installed the MegaSearch toolbar on my IE. Here's some of the nasties which I managed to remove subsequently:
HLInstaller3.exe - Win32/SecondThought.AA trojan,
InstaFinder_inst.exe - Win32/TrojanDownloader.Small.NCR trojan,
instafin.dll - Win32/Delf.GH trojan...

I do not believe in criticising people's hard work but this program really is very poor.
After installing version 8, it lasted less than 10 minutes on my computer.
If the author seriously wants to compete with other free programs that tweak settings (like Fresh UI) then this program has a long long long way to go!
Not worth downloading - give it a miss.

Ignore the review that gave it five out of five below. He is as much a software developer in a big software company as I am the Pope! Wish he'd let us know which software company it is, so I would know to avoid it!

As a conclusion: *NOT WORTH HAVING PIECE OF SOFTWARE*!

It's great. Yeah, the prevous versions were buggy, the were sucking and it included spyware! But you just have to see the new version. It's completely changed. It helps me so much thah I fell in love w/ this app (btw, I'm a soft. developer in a big software company, but it's helpful as well to any other "regulatory" Windows user!)

As a conclusion: *MUST HAVE PIECE OF SOFTWARE*!

Don't even waste your time. The installation routine allows you to register componants, yet does not put any links anywhere (you have to navigate through to \program files\)... very very few tweaks, and most of them are already a part of group policies. The program also does not reflect or detect "tweaks" (registry entries) that were in place previous to this program. Clicking on help/about gives me an activeX safety error. I have no idea how this program is already at version 5.50 RC1. There are better sites with VBS scripts & registry files, or even freeware programs that do the same thing only better...
