Waver converts WAV files to WAV or MP3 using all processors in the system. There is no need for intermediate conversions. It converts directly from any Windows audio codec to any other in one single step. It is also capable of directly producing real MP3 files from any WAV file as well as WAV encoded MP3 files even without MP3 codec.
