Would of loved to give this program a fair and honest review but within three seconds of its first execution a nag screen popped up and froze the program. The few seconds I did see of the program however were less than impressing, the code did not flow smooth at all and the individual characters were no where near clear.

While I couldn't care less about it being free or open source, Zmatrix is a superior program.

ZMatrix is very similar and it's freeware!!! Follow this link: http://zmatrix.sourceforge.net/

This program do not eat all cpu resources. CPU resources meters measures the number of idle cpu time (not the time that is busy by some applications). WinMatrix XP uses all these (idle) time to render matrix. But any program that you run on your computer will not run slower.

CPUIdle (program for cooling cpu) makes similar thing and also load processor on 100%. But you call it feature :)

I have 1.3Ghz and 512MB ram.
This would be a better program if it wasn't such a resource hog....whenever it is running, CPU is at 100%.
I also get the flickering desktop background also.

cool effects, but needs some major work.. i have a 1.4GHz computer with 512MB memory and a high-end graphics card, and the effects are kinda of jerky. i have two monitors so that may be part of the problem i guess, but I'd still expect it to have a higher frame rate. the resolution of the characters also seems to be low. and when i move a window I see my original wallpaper for a second before the "matrix" refreshes and covers the hole back up.
