This is an excellent, lean and clean player that echoes long-lost simplicity of Winamp from 10 years ago. It has some fantastic skins, but some of them are also pretty clunky, so it takes some trial and error to find the best ones. Also, my primary beef is that many of the skins don't effect all modules, in particular the playlist. Many of the skins are very creative and look really hot in compact mode. The equalizer could use more bands, but it can be refreshing compared to the 18 bands in AIMP, which I sometimes find to be a bit much for every-day use. The sound is crisp, and the interface is simple and intuitive with the right skin. I highly recommend this player. Try it, it might become your favorite.

Um dos melhores. O Melhor sem dúvida é o JETAUDIO. O que mais impressionou neste mediaplayer foi a sonoridade em auto fidelidade

I've been using Xion for a long time now. I originally downloaded it just so I could make skins for it, but it became a handy little player to use. It's streams radio perfectly.
Now with 125, I can do so much more. This is a wonderful media player. Will stick with it. :)

One star, based purely on two things - one, it's shaped like a female sanitary napkin and two, I can't give zero stars. Avoid.

GhoS you said "I can't load my media library easily and shuffle the list."
In what format is your media library? Is it just some files on disk? If so you can just drag and drop the folder straight onto Xion and it will load it into the playlist, which you can then shuffle. If not, how did you create the media library, what format is it in?
P.S. I can't figure out how to get in contact with people, only by posting a rating in the hope that they'll read it again, anyone have any tips?

I've tried this player a couple of times due to the high praise it gets and each time I'm disappointed. It has no features (at least nothing that works easy for me). I can't load my media library easily and shuffle the list. Maybe I'm not that bright, but I really couldn't figure this player out very well.
I don't understand the hype when there are a lot of other choices that do more, are easy to follow and are still free - Winamp for one.

downloaded it, tried it on a few tunes and then uninstalled it.
it plays ok but after the crash i'm not carrying a collection of media players anymoew.
i use media monkey, with my DSP's and GForce for my library and settled on
AIMP2 on my "tune tester"
gave it a three for effort

Based on the "wunnerful accolades", I downloaded this and tried it and for the life of me, I can't see what all the fuss is about.
LOTS of hype.
Not much substance.
It's an OK player, competent enough in its own limited way.
And that's the problem - it's limited.
No ASIO support despite claims that it's there. No WASAPI support. A *very* bare-bones set of configuration options.
NOTHING distinguishes this player from the various others out there.
You like this player? Fine. It's likeable. is it the second coming? Get a life; XMPlay, Foobar and Winamps (even VUPlayer) have it beat stone cold hands down.
THREE stars for a competent enough, albeit decidedly lacklustre effort.

If my G-force visualization plug-in ran on Xiion, I'd give it a five. As it is, it sounds great, and that's at least 80 percent of what a player should do!

VUPlayer(add also folder instead of only playlists and digital and analogue vu meters!) and 1by1 (only mp3, but a folder three!) allready stole my heart, but this app looks nice and skinnable feature simpy rocks!

can it replace Quint as 'additional' player?
.0 reviewed v1.0.91 Beta on Feb 11, 2008
well well, i use foobar, yes. but for fun and visuality i install other players for testing purposals. and this one rocked me. nice, smart, a lot of formats included - would say all i use - and a skinable ui.
and to the cpu usage... depoending on the chosen skin, the player runs from 0-2% usage with 1gb ram and p4 3ghz - most times it hangs around the 1% border with some rare 2% peaks...
the playlist is improvable and the only reason for not giving it a 5.

>>.. - 92% CPU usage"
You'd better get your computer checked buddy. I downloaded just through curiosity to see what pc usage I get and it didn't go above 2%. I tested on a 2.4 G pc with 1 g ram, it didnt even stutter. Sure I get 0% on foobar, yes 0. But 2% is ok.
Reverb reviewed v1.0 Build 89 Beta on Feb 1, 2008
Looks very nice but man did this eat up CPU cycles on my P4 2.66GHz machine with the default skin! See my observations playing the same MP3 file: (default settings, no visualizations)
Xion Audio Player, Default skin - 92% CPU usage
Xion Audio Player, Thin skin - 20% CPU Usage
Windows Media Player 10 - 67% CPU Usage
WinAmp 2.76 - 1% CPU Usage
I downloaded the portable version. Their website has tons of skins and it sounds great but I prefer WinAmp 2.76 as a portable audio player on my USB drive. I agree with the other reviewers, very nice, but nothing that will make you want to switch from WinAmp 5, Foobar or XAmp.
Elanessé reviewed v1.0 Build 89 Beta on Feb 1, 2008
- stylish and modern default interface, but tricky and complicated for beginners
- easy access by right clicking on the app
- playlist editor with all necessary functions, pretty ugly though and it's not skinnable
- wide assortment of skins available on the webpage, easy access on the whole database by clicking on a single button in the theme config menu
- a lot of interesting eq presets, easy to configure
- installation progress: simplified but added a shortcut in my quicklaunchbar without asking first
Overall, it's an interesting project but definitely not worth a 5 rating and it's not going to replace my good old Winamp. 4 points.

I have tried this. Great music player, but no plugins.

Great sound, minimal use of resources. If good listening and no-frills software is what you want, this is your baby.

I'll give it another try. The 'official' website does not list this version (I definitely prefer the usb version). Extensive file support and the plethora of skins is a nice medium.
Too bad; it won't render

NICE Player however.

Could not figure out how to add a file with default skin and when trying to play as a standalone (uninstalled) ap it crashed. This doesn't even compare to xmplay's power which now also includes update features, asio driver support, as well as a direct sound plugin.
As far as continuing where you left off, most players do this incl. xmplay

jep ur right! one of the best players i've tested so far! unfortunately there's no audioscrobbler plugin for this one :(

Honestly, this is the best multi-format audio player I have ever tested on Windows. Not only am I thrilled it plays all the formats I use, but the skins are so gorgeous and fluid. I'm impressed with the overall simplicity, and the EQ produces excellent results. One aspect I love is when you quit and relaunch Xion, how it immediately continues right where you left off; just make sure you have "Autostart" checked!
I fell in love with music all over again.
