Publisher's Description
dotWidget is a Windows application that runs in the background and allows you to install and display small screen objects (widgets) that perform specific and useful tasks. There are many widgets already available for dotWidget including calendars, clocks, weather displays, news feed readers, and picture viewers - to name but a few.
All dotWidget widgets are written using VBscript. This means that anyone with a little knowledge of scripting and a simple text editor (like Microsoft Notepad) can learn to create their own widgets for dotWidget. Since widgets are based on simple script files that can be opened and viewed in a text editor, existing widgets can be easily modified, improved on, and then released back into the community for everyone's benefit.

I was really looking to this new version. However the dotwidget does not live to what I had expect. Your menus cause me confusion. Why did you make it so weird to manage the dotwidgets? I do not like that my visual styles of XP do not show on the menus. New search is nice but how come input box does not fade with dotwidget? Many bugs still. Maybe too soon for 1.0. Maybe next version will be better, I will watch!

This is absolutely fabulous!! With Desktopx, I was totally confused, like a bear on a donkey. This takes all the guess work without the zipped files mess!! Konfabulator is Konfabulous!!

Thanks for the comments. Firstly, apologies if the description was misleading - dotWidget certainly isn't intended to be 'Konfabulator For Windows' (that's already out). Instead, dotWidget was very much inspired by Konfabulator (long before they released the Windows version).
I'm really sorry people have been having problems with it, but if you could pop over to the forums (http://www.k23productions.com) and post your issues there, we'll definately try to help you out.
The app is very new, hence there are only a limited number of widgets available, although many are added on an almost daily basis now (RC-3 is also available as of today) - we hope to have a lot more functionality in the core and many more widgets available before we go final release.
Thanks again

I think it's a wonderful app and making widgets for it is more than easy. It is fast and clean, doesn't use too much resources and memory.
And now for what you have said:
"There are not enough widgets (1), and it is not compatible with Konfabulators widgets (2)."
1. If there are not enough widget why don't you go and make your own? Or just have a look on the site or ask someone on the forum!
2. It is NOT suposed to be compatible. It is INSPIRED by Konfabulator, not a clone or port of it! It's using it's own way of managing widgets and scripts.
"Few widgets, the UI violates several standards which makes navigating difficult, Poor UI quality (what's up with the funky looking menus? I have XP take care of skinning my menus for a reason!) (1) Frequently updating widgets lag the rest of the app. (2)"
1. This is a reasonable note, so why don't you go to the forums and describe your problem there?
2. Never happen to me and I'm running it 24/7. Again, try the forum.
"I wouldnt qualify this as a Konfabulator clone (it's not near the quality)."
Nobody said it's suposed to be a Konfabulator clone...
