You can choose the version to download - one that has no ads, or one with ads.

If you read there forums they have made it clear there is now adware/spyware.. and look a year later with no updated version. By the time Triton is out you won't even need this since logging will be with Triton.

No it's not an Adware. Check out his forum and read. Seeing everyone else making the benjamins these days why not? If everyone would welling to donate couple of $ or $$ for his hard work and time. Too bad not everyone feel the same way. Thats why a lot of geeks come here hoping to get great programs(beta) for free and complain.

Middle_Man is not freeware anymore.
It is now Adware.

Just go to the forum to see for yourselves.
The admin made an statement and has said that they need money and have therefore made a deal with WhenU to include their software with Middle_Man.

It is not being accepted very well in the community...

They dont update for a year, they call this a tester version...its not even a beta, or whatever, and now they add adware to their product...great job guys!

Pixelv2, what ARE you talking about? have you even used the program? it does what they advertise better than any other program out there. triton is a long way off, and at the rate AIM has been going will probably suck just like every release after 5.2. hopefully triton will be better, but i doubt it. until then, don't give a program a 1 because you don't like it. give it a 1 because it doesn't work, freezes your machine, something like that. Idiot.

Tokar: you have the option to install an ad-supported version or non-ad supported version. Calling it adware is incorrect.

Pixelv2

Pixelv2 reviewed v0.2.0012 Beta 2 on Jul 10, 2005

Two things

1) It is a violating of the AIM License Agreement to tamper with and alter the files this program tampers with...not that any of you kiddies care. What's one more felony anyway? :)

2) Programs like this are on their way out. The new AIM "Triton" does everything these hacks do, and do it right. Within the next year there will be no need for these sorry excuses for programs...as if there is a need for one now.

Like every other AIM hack, this gets a big fat 1 rating.
-----------
For those b****ing and complaining about giving this POS a bad rating, it's because it alters AIM installed files. One program altering another programs files, well, that was once considered virus like activity. You dolts have no idea how easy it is for this knucklehead to steal info off your computer with what he does. If you get burned, then good, you deserve it for being such an unintelligent chimp.

This has suffered the same fate as DeadAIM.

It was a hot tool like DeadAIM.
Now it is a DEAD tool like DeadAIM. They promised new version but...it never came out.

This version is now worthless with all the new builds of AIM.

CyberInferno

CyberInferno reviewed v0.2.0009RR on Feb 16, 2004

Very good addon. I use simultaneously with AIMutation, because AIMutation is awesome with its skins and tabbed interface. M_M is great because of its remote control feature. That's essentially what I use it for. For those looking to use it with AIMutation, I recommend using a clean install of AIM 5.2.3292 and installing M_M first. I let AIMutation handle most of their common features, and so far it looks like they're working pretty well together.

yoblin

yoblin reviewed v0.2.0009RR on Feb 15, 2004

This program has great potential. It has quite a few bugs now, and I still prefer deadAIM, but give it a little time and I'm sure it will surpass all other plugins if the authors keep working hard on it. More advanced scripting would be wonderful. Of course, trillian pro still kicks the a** of any aim plugin, but this still isn't bad.

Let it be known that middle_man was not designed to work with anything past 5.5.3415, look for compatibility with beta 3.

jgriffgsr

jgriffgsr reviewed v0.2.0009RR on Feb 15, 2004

I liked this program alot but this version doesn't seem to remove the ads at all for AIM version 5.5.3572. This was very annoying, when i returned to MiddleMan_0[1].2.0008
It fixed the ad's so i guess ill have to do without these fixes until they fix this problem...

Getting better every releases. Now when IM tabs implement into middle man, it sure to kick butts. There is another small program that I use for IM tabs/Smilee that works really well with middle man. You can do a search for it at his forum.

NICE Program! IF this does remain freeware, this could be a very nice Dead aim alternative =]

the ghost feature is great.

Walka

Walka reviewed v0.2.0004 Beta on Dec 22, 2003

Very Nice Program. There are a little bugs here and there, but they can be worked out. I think this program has great potential, and now is in the lead of the Add-on's race since AIMutation is currently out, and DeadAIM has been dying (living up to its name.) So I think this program deserves a 4, for its greatness. :)

Nilisco

Nilisco reviewed v0.2.0004 Beta on Dec 22, 2003

It in theory works with the new beta, it just does a terrible job. Can the author please stop giving himself free advertising and actually fix something useful? The program has potential I think.

Great program, ever sinc aim+ died I have been looking for something to replace the unlikeable app that is deadaim. This is it. Commands, tabs soon to come, and it DOES work with the latest beta, 5.5.3501, for me anyway. Deadaim is dead, long live middle_man.

jon8rfc

jon8rfc reviewed v0.2.0002 Beta 2 on Dec 21, 2003

Fantastic program! Great stability and fancy features that NOBODY else offers...check the forums to see what it's all about- http://middleman.krunchsoftware.com/forum
There is one feature for every version of AIM that is not listed here that nobody else offers...GHOSTING! Even with AIM 4.8.2790 you can appear offline easily. It works with every AIM5 version. Join up at the forums to learn how to ghost!

NoahBerman

It's getting there. It is still at a beta stage and I am glad that it is offering the features that it is. It is definately catching up with the once good deadaim. I hope to see it advance. I like the way it is headed. I am using it.
