One of the main reasons that I love VNC is you can use it under multi-platforms! PCanywhere doesn't really offer this, however VNC will let you use FreeBSD, Linux, Windows, just about anything... sure, it's slow, but what can you expect?

I wouldn't say that it's JUST a hacking tool for children! I've been locked out from my IE before when I had my cousins over and I locked it, then forgot the password. :) FileForum.com allows authors to post their own files to the system as well. :)
