Custom Packaging Tools: How to Get an Instant 3D Preview of Your Downloaded Product Packaging Dieline

Are you interested in customize packaging your own packaging? Whether you’re getting ready to launch your own product or you’re working on creating a new marketing campaign, the right product packaging can make all the difference. Thankfully, there are tons of free custom packaging tools available to help you get started right away! In this guide, we’ll show you how to use custom packaging tools to create your own box dielines, as well as how to turn those dielines into downloadable packages that you can print at home or have shipped directly to your customers.

Step 1: Open up something

Open up something you want to package up. As you can see in my photos, I’m packaging up a DVD in a case I’ve designed. The first thing you should do is open your design in InDesign and go through it, making sure there are no mistakes anywhere. (I made one—mistake #1—but that’s what Step 2 is for.) Once everything looks right, export your file as PDF.

Step 2: Drag and drop onto something

What type of product are you packaging? Are you planning on selling your products on ecommerce sites like Amazon, or distributing them more in-person at trade shows and conventions? For either model, it’s important to figure out what materials will be best for your product—which means doing a little bit of research.

Step 3: Publish it online or download it locally

To publish it online, click on Publish button below your post. You will be redirected to a new window where you can choose where you want to save or publish your post.

Step 4: Share it on social media

Now that you’ve got your brilliant new content ready, it’s time to share it with a wide audience. To get started, simply log in to your LinkedIn profile, click on News and choose Publish. It will ask you for three pieces of information about your post (Headline, Summary and Tags). Once you write these three elements down, simply add them into each area.
