My biggest gripe with A9 is that it falls back on consumer links, trying to sell me everything on Amazon. I looked up my polling place today and it list 13 pro-Bush books. Ewwww.

Uh, no, rk05.
You have to have an account to use their personalized search functions. You can use the toolbar without it - it's basically the same thing as the Google toolbar using A9's search instead. Which I think is cool since A9 is basically Google with extra functions that I kind of like - try it out at http://www.a9.com and play with it if you're worried about the toolbar - it does the same stuff. Now if I could figure out how to use A9 as my default search in Opera since I never use IE...
Not really worth 5 stars but I think the score needs to be balanced some. Read A9's privacy policy and decide if you want the personalized search functions. I don't so I don't use them and there is no spy stuff going on.

OK, to start with one of the requirements is an Amazon account. That's pretty limiting. Then go to the web site, and they never do show you the whole toolbar. Hiding something? I'll pass thanks.
