I tried it but wasn't able to decrypt the .wma files I paid for. I wish they would have said that upfront before I downloaded it. At least I didn't pay for it!

This software can:
1) Rip CDs
2) Convert mp3wav, mp3wma, wavwma
3) WAV-files can be created CD-compatible (for burning)
Costs 20$

GX Transcoder can transcode between many formats (not only mp3,vma,wav), burn CDs/DVDs, rip CDs, play media and may more.
Costs nothing

CDex are outstanding flexible powerful CDgrabber.
Costs nothing

Both have good enougth inteface and superior functionality and they is able to use external encoders (like LAME, for example)

Got the point?

I really don't understand, why someone writes something like shareware mp3tagger or shareware media player while there is free/opensource analogs? And why BN posts news about soft like this?

I've used this product on several occasions. It was very easy to use, and worked well. The program adds itself to the context menu, so you simply right-click on the file you want to convert.

It uses the popular LAME encoder for mp3's, and it will also convert wma's that don't have digital rights management.

The program is not freeware, the cost is $19.95.

dennis ball: This thing doesn't only do mp3wav. It works with wma too. I tried other tools and nothing is as easy to use as this one. Good program, but I do hope it's freeware.

1. Use WinAmp to convert from MP3 to WAV. It's free and it's flawless (ie. decoding MP3s is easy compared to encoding them. It's a no-brainer).

2. Use Exact Audio Copy and the Lame MP3 encoder. They are both free and they do an exceptional job at converting from CD to MP3.

Why would ANYONE pay for these features??? If it were freeware application and was as good as it currently is, I would give it a decent rating.

Call me cheap but I don't pay for a tool when the free ones are better.

I don't have any way of testing the "actual" sound quality, but with my limited system files sound just fine after converting. And when I end up with an MP3 that one or more of my players complains about, I simply right-click on the offending file and "convert to MP3." Works perfectly every time and I've had no problems with WMA files either. For the few uses I have for it, I've loved it.
