Publisher's Description
iChat AV delivers superior control over your instant messaging life. Thanks to the built-in compatibility with AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), you have automatic immediate access to the more than 150 million members of the AIM and .Mac communities and the ability to join any AOL chat room just by typing in its name. And with Apple's revolutionary Rendezvous networking technology, you can see which people are available on your local network without even knowing their screen names. Smileys Icons and thought bubbles make it fun to see who's saying what in your conversations. It leverages Aqua to make what you see powerful and intuitive. From a single Message window you can completely manage your IM session and tell at a glance who's saying what when you're messaging or chatting with several people at once.
With iChat you can chat with folks thousands of miles away in a full-screen personal video conference over any broadband connection. Thanks to the advanced graphics built into Mac OS X, they'll truly look like themselves, instead of strangers made of childrenâ??s building blocks. iChat AV also lets you size your video window to whatever size suits your style â?? from the large default of 352 x 288 pixels to full screen. Of course you don't want to play charades to communicate, so iChat AV also delivers pristine two-way audio.

I used better videophone software in 1999. Same old junk.

Neat interface but there are lots of missing multimedia features by my opinion. For example brightness adjustment and one way audio or video chat.
For "simple" chatting for macs I'd rather prefer Fire (http://fire.sourceforge.net/)
