Publisher's Description
AutoVer is a configurable automatic or real time backup and version control system. It can be used as a simple real time backup or as a more complex version control system. The beauty of this system is that once you set it up (which is extremely simple) it does everything. No remembering to backup or to check in or check out files. Every time you save a file it is copied to your backup folder or drive. You can include and exclude certain files and browse the backups with the Backup Explorer. Great for backing up (or one way syncronising) your work or home documents to flash memory or saving every change you make to your source code or image files.

o Not too impressed with installation as it did not allow user to select desired install directory. Not a biggie, but its unusual and preferable to allow user to determine desired directory.
o Impressed with program size compared to others very compact but still functional interface.
o Very useful for programmers or writers who want to keep many versions of the same file for backwards referral.
o Not intuitive to use, but the target audience eg programmers would find no problem with its methods.
o Not to be confused with a backup program - this is a VERSIONING program.

Seems like this has potential but it's not working for me.
I set up my "Watch Folder" as the local docs on my laptop and the "Backup Folder" set to my mapped network drive. I specified an empty folder on the network for testing. The initial backup process recreated the folder structure perfectly but did not copy a single file within those folders.
What gives? Anyone else experience this or am I being a bonehead and missing something? I didn't modify the file masks from the default.

is neat but gives me an ".NET unhandeled exeption" on startup. it will work, if i click on continue. unfortunately the homepage does not give quick advise about requirements, exept a hidden notion about NET 2 which i have, as i have v3.
disabeling windowblinds skinning didnt help (it does sometimes, for example with paint.net)
should have an option to keep a specified number of backups in addition to the existing option to keep 'countless' backups for X days.
have been looking for an app just like this.

Awesome! First backup tool I've found that works out of the box. It even tracked an exe I compressed and made the change in backup folder.

Nice tool for doing backups. Currently have it on my mini-server and it does backups from my "main" computer that i mainly use. So far so good. Also the program seems to be quite light, uses about 1,200 Kb of memory.

This release was by far the best. Keep up the good work.

I think that this app needs to have a dll included to do what Winmerge does. Other than that it just needs some polishing. Please dont think im critizing but its a nice app overall.

Once the bugs are ironed out it will be a very useful utility and worthy of a 4-5. As it stands it's not quite there, but that's why it's called beta. So far noticed that deletions not always mirrored same goes for moving folders within the target folders.
