Publisher's Description

Codec Toolbox RS can read/change merit of all 32/64-bit codecs (including DMO) and it can list the codecs installed on the system. It can detect broken codecs and filters. Can also be used from command line (there are the real command line and another command line inside the GUI). Click on the "Readme..." button in the application for help.

@Sativarg: The program can detect problems but it cannot fix them, but only because that feature isn't yet implemented.

The read/change merit is for advanced users, for explanation on this it is better to search it on internet.
If you want a simple answer for the "merit" then: when there is more than one codec that handle the same format the one with the higher merit is used.

The log can be viewed directly, the button is made to show it in a more bigger window (for example after you have executed the "actions").

I know the author is probably trying to make as small and light a program a** possible but this really should be presented as a beta or alpha build.

I am using DirectShow Filter Manager 0.5 currently. I only just found this DirectShow Filter Manager because Codec Toolbox found an error it would not fix. So Codec Toolbox did locate a real problem but I had to go elsewhere to find a fix.

I like small well written apps. I do not know what is means to set the merit of a codec. This little program may do that just fine but having to press a separate button to open a log window is a hassle when that window wont let me get back to the main program unless I close it.

Maybe open notepad instead?
Name: ffdshow DXVA Video Decoder
CLSID: {0B0EFF97-C750-462C-9488-B10E7D87F1A6}
Merit: FF800002 = MERIT_KING_OF_CODECS + 2
I like the descriptive language for the merit codes "MERIT_KING_OF_CODECS + 2"
Fore some one who knows what they are doing this is probably a fine little app. anyone who does not know what is a merit of a codec should get educated before using this app.

The reason this program could not fix the problem it found was because another codec program had disabled the MAD transform filter by altering the CLSID.
from the readme of Codec Toolbox

When read/change merit or delete a codec it searches the name or CLSID of the codec with the exact match (not partial match) and it is case insensitive.

so its is documented.

@CyberDoc999: Select action => Select 32 or 64bit => Insert codec name or guid => Select new merit (if the action is change merit) => Press Run

What is the difficult thing?
