Publisher's Description

CuteZIP is a compression utility designed to compress and extract files commonly called archives. Archives, with file extensions such as ZIP and CAB, are encoded versions of uncompressed files that require considerably less disk space. Due to their smaller size, archives save hard drive space and require less time to transmit over the Internet.

now im wondering why they even re-released this program.. it was great 3 years ago.. but im not so sure about now, expecially as a shareware and less then standard support.. oh well.. i still love global and the whole Cute line.. make us proud globalscape. This is NOT freeware, it's SHAREWARE. Yet another useless WinZip clone by the wat... See: http://www.cutezip.com/s...ase.asp?product=cutezip - IZArc is freeware and far better than this.

I actually like this interface, its clean and appealing, and it supports multi-disk spanning which I dont think WinRar does.

I agree. RAR still is the best, and can also manage zip files. Nice try though.

I still must say - WinRAR still rules the archive arena, it does it all and has a no-nag endless evaluation period...this program isn't bad though.

Why are zip programs so complex? Most users wouldnt use or need most features. Most important is full right click functions-like FREEZIP

I have been using this program for over 3 months. So far I have been very impressed with the 128-bit incryption. The data management is very impressive. Features of controlling your hard drive from the program also was impressive. The most important part of the program that I noticed was the memory heap configuaration that has made zip files on my network use less resources.

I think CuteMX is much better than Napster (what about an interface, Napster? haha). I hope that this app will get as popular as Napster.

Can you say Sysedit?

Very simple non caching server.
However it doesn't work! Sometimes pages come through
but about 1/2 the time data is missing!
I only use this over a LAN but over dialup it would probably be worse

It has right click shell integration. I have been using it and havn't had any of these problems. I think it is a cool program, especially for a beta.

I always appreciate freeware, but I don't think I can use this one. Speed and shell integration are imperative for a Zip utility, and this one has neither. It isn't even close to JZip or EZ Zip, which are 2 nice freeware Zip utilities.

Like I said in my review, I really like CuteZIP. The features are great and the interface makes extracting and making archives a breeze. I'll be damned if I ever download WinZip again...

lyonlim

I like the interface...
and i dun think winzip is any more better...if it doesn't provide more features..
right now, I'm going into other programs which support the major formats..like .rar, .cab, .zip etc. in 1 program...

cutezip is nice..its very neat..greta job! as for the features..needs more work on it =)

Nice try but it takes a while for it to load up zipfiles. In addition, as the last person noted, it doesn't have right click integration working. Furthermore, the interface is way more complex than the simplicity of Winzip and really adds worthless bulk thats not suppose to be part of a zipper/unzipper. If you want to encrypt a file use PGP or a normal encrypter. Sheesh, bloatware to the rescue again.

This program works fine.

Beta2000

Beta2000 reviewed v1.0 Beta 8 on Dec 14, 1999

It still needs work. The right click integration feature is half-broke. It won't allow me to save within the same folder the file is.(even though I changed it within the settings, doesn't do squat)

UnaBart

UnaBart reviewed v1.0 Beta 8 on Dec 14, 1999

So far, so good. Wouldn't save my individual settings (ie: text labels off, etc) but that's a small issue.

Wonder if this will be freeware or not. I like it already. Nice interface.
