Publisher's Description

FreeRIP can record digital audio tracks directly from compact discs, without going through your sound card. You can save tracks as CD-quality WAV files or encode them to Ogg Vorbis or MP3 compressed format.

FreeRIP is freeware, however registering this program will suppress the splash screen at startup.

theres now a FreeRip Pro that you can buy........ anyone else think its a bit off with a program called FREE...Rip..that isnt..free?

and there are SO many better and really really REALLY free alternatives out there..

What I like is that it is portable and the exe is compressible. It does not ask for registration (unless you uncheck the splash screen) and the toolbar is optional. Seems to have search features for art and lyrics now though I have not tried them.
Out of the box ripper that has no learning curve. I for one like it alot.

Nothing new nor even different. Not very impressive and limited options, plus it wants you to register and you need to be sure and not install the added crap with it.

Not worth the time to download.

Ehh offers nothing more then other freeware rippers, heck it offers less.

"FreeRIP MP3 is freeware, however registering this program will suppress the splash screen at startup."

That's called nagware, not freeware.

The main feature I am looking for in a ripper is that it can combine the whole CD into one long MP3. Can this program do that? Also what if anything does this do that CDex can't?

Thanks,
Christian Blackburn

No rippers do anymore.

As someone below said: Lack of format support, and no secure ripping.

EAC all the way.

Great program, rips without any problems to multiple formats, able to get CD information from FreeDB! Fast and free! Highly recommended.

Simple to use, latest version appeared to remove a problem by wich a special driver was needed to check the CD on XP SP2. Good to use, much better than stupid MS MediaPlayer

If I'm not mistaken, you can 'opt-out' of the MySearch add on, that would make the program free in my book. It rips to Wav, MP3 or OGG-Vorbis. Normalizing, freedb & advanced file naming are among the options supported. The only thing it really lacks is the option to remove silence at the beginning and end of the tracks. Otherwise, it's not a bad program at all. 4 Stars from me. :)
