Very light virus scanner and often keeps you updated for latest definitions.

I am awaiting the 2013 version.

I've tried a great deal of scanners over many years, some are stronger than overs obviously, why is it you need the best scanner around, is that because you download pirates ? often cramped with virus.

For the causal user that don't download much, don't require the need for a bulky scanner - kingsoft free is good for the causal user that needs mild protection. If you need a more over product, then avast may prove better or over.

The only real way of protecting a pc is use a sandbox, and unplug from the internet' when your not using your pc or laptop - tablet ect. Do a scan of over peoples disks, usb ect, if borrowing devices.

I've been trying this & are so far very impressed. The fact that it's from China is neither here nor there, so is just about everything else.

Update: this program is pretty much garbage. Installed into a test machine and intentionally infected it with several viruses. We do this to test all potential AV packages. It did catch many, but fell ridiculously short. Asian company, so support is full of holes. I recommend steering clear.

Weak, as is their office program. Asian company trying to build a name, but they're only really building junk.

YACAV (yet another cloud AV). Not bad for a freebie. Runs fairly light. Updates sigs often. Well maintained & supported. Protection is 2nd tier at best, however, & there is no integral behavior blocker. Other free choices are somewhat better (Avast, MSE, Avira, etc).

Still -- you will have real-time adequate protection using Kingsoft AV if you: (a) have a good firewall or router, & (b) image your system drive to external back-up drive at least weekly & retain clean images for at least 2 months, & (c) run Hitman Pro (freebie) at least weekly.
