KishKish SAM is a simple voice answering machine for Skype users. When you are away from your PC and there is no one to answer your incoming Skype calls, it will pick up the call, play a greeting message and the "all-time clasic beep" so that the calling party will leave a voice recorded message.

Needs the name changed to something that actually sounds like what it does, rather than a stylised gun c***ing and firing onomatopoeism.

THERE IS answering machine in skype, that feature is called VOICE MAIL. you can sign up to test it. skype version 1.1.0.81 and higher supports it.

@ deemon : stop talking bullsh*t. there is no answering machine in skype, it shows you just who called you when you were not it.
the program itself is great, works well and supports 2 different answering profiles and the option to mute the sound when it picks up a phonecall.
used it now for a while and no crash yet, usability is simple & good, so 5* from me

just checked skype.com, last official is 1.1.79, the .81vm is still beta, and doesn't have such a good and configurable AM like SAM is. by the way i don't even find it in .81 :/
and most important : SAM is free.
compared to Pamela (www.pamela-systems.com) it has some features missing, but the good freatures are not free in pamela, so the basic version of pamela is crap compared to SAM.
so still 5* for pam which allows me to select the message i want to.
EDIT 3:
NEW VERSION 1.0.4.4 of SAM is out, and now works properly and perfect. i couldn't imagine skype without SAM anymore.

looks like by defalt install it loads with windows when start up but you can disable that in advance options so no problem..being that its beta and free its a fair app and that it works it deserves a decant rating..i personaly would love it 100 more if it itergrated fully into skype instead of a seperate program and without another dreaded icon loaded.

Nice little program, tries to fix it so that it starts when you boot windows, that I hate but not all that bad.

Sam is not the problem, I suspect you have a few virus' on your system, I recommend a good antivirus like anti-vir to fix that.
I install sam with InCtrl5 monitoring and it installed or did nothing out of the ordinary (InCtrl5 log file available).
I also ran Skype and Sam with Ethereal (packet sniffer, network analyzer) and recorded nothing out of the ordinary again. Zonealarm here did freak etc..
Sounds like you have a virus that might of attached itself to Sam (and god knows what other program).

Sam is not the problem, I suspect you have a few virus' on your system, I recommend a good antivirus like anti-vir to fix that.
