Publisher's Description
Loading Kyodai Mahjongg for the first time is a revelation in how Mahjongg Solitaire games should be made. From the moment the soothing guitar music washes over you to your first look at the feature-packed but well organized interface, it's apparent that it is about escaping the real world and immersing yourself in a simple game. In development since 1997, it has more than enough content to please the hungriest appetites, including eight fully realized Solitaire games, online multiplayer modes and dozens of tilesets and layouts. It is also a tweaker's dream, as the interface contains a wealth of visual and audio options, including the ability to switch between 2D and 3D graphics on the fly.

Kyodai Mahjongg 2006 1.42
Lost my registration due to repair of my computer by Sony! Unable to get registration for the game. How do I get it? Is this a fly ny night company. Their page is useless as you get no replies!

I love this game! However, even though I have already registered, some of the games are asking me to register again and I no longer have the registration number. Please help! It is annoying to constantly be getting the reminder to register when I already have! Thanks!

Hey Naoki, I installed 1.42 over my old copy and did like you said and unchecked that box and started it from the start menu instead and it didn't work like you said it would.
It remembered some settings, like full screen immersion, but changed tile sets, changed the selector, changed the background and some other things.
I went to your web page to try to email you so that I could let you know about the problems but it said you are no longer offering tech support or allowing people to send you emails
That totally sucks. You want people to buy your program but you won't even let them email you any more? Lame.

BRUDDAMAN (Edit)> First of all, the DEFAULT theme is reset each time you reinstall the game. That's why there are THEMES in the first place: you just create your own, you save it, and you don't have to worry anymore.
"I went to your web page to try to email you so that I could let you know about the problems but it said you are no longer offering tech support or allowing people to send you emails"
I NEVER said I'm no longer offering tech support! I'm simply TEMPORARILY (until I can find someone who can do the job!) suspending E-MAIL support. That's what the forum is for in the first place: communicating with me and other users! That's where tech support happens now.
And yes, if you don't buy the game, you don't get tech support. Do you know how many e-mails I received per day? I'm a single person company, I don't have time for everyone! Especially when NINETY-NINE percent of the questions are already answered in the FAQ, or in the Windows Beginner Manual! ("How do I change music? How do I download your demo?") Does that deserve a 3/5 appreciation? I don't think so...
thehunger> Older versions of KMJ with OpenGL support run under Linux with the Wine emulator.
yokozuna> I removed a DLL that was no longer needed, hence the size reduction. Still, I managed to save an extra 200 KB (I think) because I'm so obsessed with optimizing the whole thing (that's also why there's a still a sub-6MB version to download on the version, without the music).
M> Well, if you don't like the new sound effect, you can still remove it from your "sounds" subdirectory (it's called nomoves.wav). I spent years trying to find the "right" sound that would convey a feeling of sadness, be short and sweet to the ear (found it via an harmonica). Hmm, or maybe you don't like the sound because you're hearing it too much ;o) That should be an incentive to train even more, eheh!
DudeBoyz> You can keep previous settings easily, in fact. When you install the new version, uncheck the "Launch Kyodai Mahjongg" option at the end, and launch it via the Start Menu. Your previous settings will be kept :)
PS--please do not assume I'll be reading ratings in the future. I just happened to do it today is all ;)

Fantastic program, and I'm glad to see updates.
Only thing I can think of would be to have the new version assume all of the settings when you install it over a previous version.
Other than that, the thing is about as good as it gets.

This version is more polished, but I nearly had a heat attack the first time I heard the "no more move" sound.

The program amazes me. What is interesting, the size of the program stays at approx. the same level, however, there are more and more functions and effects implemented, e.g. KM 2006 1.2 ~ 14.1 megabytes and KM 2006 1.42 ~ 13.8 megabytes. I wish all the apps were so optimized.

Great software. It's a shame it isnt available on Linux with all the features, though.

Everyone I've talked into downloading this program have has ended up buying it and loving it. My wife and I have played a DOS version of Mahjong for years and we just happened upon this version. So....
The good: Fantastic variety (esp. for downloaded versions), very configurable (tiles, background, music), beautiful presentation, good feedback (# of tiles left, time), very good job of getting players together on message board, and just plain fun-&-quick play.
The bad: I've been pondering that. As far as the game goes, there seems to be no down side. At the price (~$23) this is an absolute bargain.
The ugly: If you leave the game up & unplayed for a day on XP it sometimes stops responding - so just restart. Not a big deal.
Summary: If you don't like Kyodai's version of Mahjong you probably don't like Mahjong anyway.

Great game, I've been playing it for years and love every new addition to it. There are so many ways to customize this and hundreds of different layouts to choose from. Or simply make your own and play to your heart's content.
Well worth the registration fee, as its a lifetime registration and doesn't limit you to just that version.
