Publisher's Description
Microsoft .NET Compact Framework Redistributable contains the common language runtime and class libraries built for the .NET Compact Framework. In addition to version 3.5 support, it also supports applications developed for version 1.0 and 2.0. The .NET Compact Framework 3.5 provides new features such as Windows Communication Foundation, LINQ, SoundPlayer, new runtime tool support, and many other features.
Important: To develop .NET Compact Framework applications, Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 is required.
This package uses ActiveSync 4.0 to update the device. Before running NETCFSetupv35.msi, connect your device to your PC. If your device is not connected, ActiveSync will store the CAB file and will not install the package until you connect. If you are not using ActiveSync, run the CAB files on the device that correspond to the deviceĆ¢??specific CAB files found in the install folder.

Same as the person below. I attempted to install a dotNet application after installing that, only to be told that it, I quote, "cannot be installed on systems with .NET Framework version smaller than 2.0".
*EDIT* I tried to run 2 more small applications that I know need .Net 2.0, and both came up with the kind of error encountered when dotNet is not installed at all. So much for 2.0 backward compatibility! This is utter rubbish, and I tried to find a better word to describe it.

BS! You still need to install version 2.0 because apps claim that there is no .NET Framework 2.0 instaled with this version. What a garbage!

It didn't refuse to install on my PC even if this seems to be oriented to other devices. The odd part is that it installed in a breeze opposed to the tipically everlasting installs of the Net Framework packages.
did it just leave the files sitting there uninstalled?
is this NOW intended for PCs TOO?

ModderXManiac: You running Paint.NET on a handheld device? Otherwise this won't affect Paint.NET. This is different from .NET Framework 2.0. This is for mobile devices.

Can M$ EVER post changes to smaller apps or OS extensions such as this?
Seems a bit slow, and caused a few bugs with Paint.Net
