It contains a warning: after installing .NET 2 SP2 one should install update http://support.microsoft.com/kb/959209 (apparently in particular if one also has .NET v3.5 SP1 installed).

While nothing is probably wrong with the update itself, be careful when using this with apps based on .NET 2.0. Some programs might stop working after updating to SP2, e.g. Paint.NET (v3.36 in my case). You may have to wait until concerned apps have been updated to provide compatibility.

O.K. I'll admit it, I'm ignorant. All I know is I must have this to run some of the updated applications such as Paint.NET, and what I've read on MS. I had 1.1 installed on my old computer, so is 2.0 all I need to install on my new machine (ie downward compatible to 1.1, and below)? Where can I go to learn more about .NET Framework to find out how it can benefit me other than having it on my machine to run some select applications? Any help will be appreciated.

I based my high rating on piecing together various comments/reviews starting with some of the Beta ones. It appears like 2.0 is solid and a good foundation for future software to build on.

Does anyone know if .NET framework 2.0 enhancements are being integrated into Microsoft Office 12 or earlier versions?

Sorry to say but you're an ignorant.

First of all, i have installed Microsoft .NET v1.0.3705, v1.1.4322 and v2.0.50727 and you known how much that cost me in disk space?
Answer: 138.065.406 bytes.

If you don´t have free space in your computer for that, buy a new one. :)))))

Second, too much CPU and memory space ?
In a Centrino 2GB with 1GB of RAM like i have you don´t have that kind of problems.
Lke i Said before, buy a new computer, if you have the money. ;)))))))))))))))

Third, don´t make fun how like Microsoft and work every hard day with them. If you don´t like it,install linux and work with it.

To me, this piece of software rates 5 points. Why

I work with it every day, and ives me a lot of money.

It's finally here, it gets the rating of 5, I would however give it a 4 because VS2005 isn't final yet. But that diesn't matter right now.

So I downloaded both the SDK and Framework, and I'm quite happy with it so far, with some work I managed to migrate my old 1.1 code and whoopdeedoo, it seems to run smoother than ever.

Now, if only I could have VS2005 this very instant.

Zoroaster: What a pointless comment and rating. If you don't use it then move along and b**** somewhere else.

mo_mo: I wish Windows could be shipped on a single floppy but that likely won't happen. Compressed the framework with WinRAR and only saved 30 KB so Microsoft did a good job at reducing it's size.

Ignorants ignore and ignorants remove.
So, I've had .Net Framework 1.1 (updated) for years. Megas for what? Two or three progs built around it, two or three progs requiring it as opposed to thousands, built differently, built otherwise than as a MS tank, and running smoothly out of the oyster MS developped DLL & Company huge universaly interconnected system.
So, I've nevertheless installed .Net Framework 2.0. Another mountain of files, another startup service installed, another piece of ram and cpu removed... for what? In order to be able to run .Net 2.0 developped software? I don't see the point, but remember: I'm an ignorant.
So, I've removed .Net Framework 2.0. I took te opportunity to remove by the way *all* previous versions of .Net Framework (1.1 and its updates).
Now? The beat goes on. Frankly, I don't miss anything. Perhaps 2 or 3 progs will cry: we'll send them back to momy.
I don't see the point in .Net Framework. I'm an ignorant. But what has MS done to teach me what, why and how? Available documentation is geek- spelled, so I guess ignorants just don't need .Net Framework. I guess I may be doing a booboo, I guess I'll take that chance.
