For transfering programs from XP to Vista, check out the Windows Easy Transfer Companion (beta).

Hohum, another moron ranting about something they have no idea about simply because Microsoft released it.

This works VERY well if you have more than a DOS box configured on your machine and wish to move to Vista.

Vista, for the Neanderthals in the room, does not use the same locations as XP for items like Music and Photos. I may want to migrate my Outlook settings and pst file too.

I've run the command line version of this tool and it works great.

If you are moving to Vista and don't want to burn, find new locations, copy, reconfigure Office, etc. I recommend this tool.

If you just hate Microsoft, why bother to look at their offerings? I'd MUCH rather be running a MS product than the competition. Any competition.

What about the software? This would include drivers too? What about those? Any idiot can open a folder and burn the contents to a disc or separate hd. My Pictures?, My Music?, My Documents? that's a laugh. Settings? Vista is so unlike xp that settings will be the last thing to be concerned with. If the latest release held excellent driver support AND was as fast as XP I might consider it. Drivers aside, if they cannot make it faster than XP, I could really care less what it has to offer.
