Publisher's Description
Windows Vista introduces a breakthrough user experience and is designed to help you feel confident in your ability to view, find, and organize information and to control your computing experience.
The visual sophistication of Windows Vista helps streamline your computing experience by refining common window elements so you can better focus on the content on the screen rather than on how to access it. The desktop experience is more informative, intuitive, and helpful. And new tools bring better clarity to the information on your computer, so you can see what your files contain without opening them, find applications and files instantly, navigate efficiently among open windows, and use wizards and dialog boxes more confidently.

Vista 64 SP2 does not install on Dell Inspirons with Vista 64 Sp1. Dell has no Solution, and Microsoft claims that this is a Dell issue.
CA's Security Suite does not work (it will run - but doesn't supply virus eradication) for Vista 64.
Vista 64 is so screwed up, that even Microsoft's most valued partners can't get their software or hardware to work with it. But they won't say this in public, for fear of the "Wrath of Microsoft"
Microsoft's answer is to upgrade to Windows 7...... Which, by the way, has yet to prove suitable for general distribution.

Yes the O.S. has a lot of bling going for it. But as far as function forget it. I have been tring to get my ISATAP adapter to work again. As for the last two months ever since sp2 it sits with a yellow triangle and the worst part is, It belongs to Microsoft. I have contacted two different tech @ Microsoft about this. The emails that come back from Microsoft are upbeat and wanting to help. But when I send a reply my email are now blocked. I have even resubmitted the claim and the same thing happens, Not just one email address but with all my email. I will still get a note from a tech advising to get in touch when it is convienant for me.. HA HA the jokes on me. For anyone in Vista Hell, I advise you buy Advanced Vista Optimizer from Systweaks. No this is not a pitch, But my new laptop almost became a pitch in the trash tell I started using this product. I could write about how I hate vista all night. But I think I have made my self clear. Sorry spell check is down.. Love this vista

Well, SP2 killed the ability to print. I run Vista 64 bit and after installing SP2, I could no longer print to a Canon MX 850 over wither the network or USB. Reboots, reinstalling drivers, nothing helps. Restored OS to pre SP2 and everything works again. Guess SP2 will stay hidden for another year or so until they fix it.

Good to see MS is releasing these publicly, but I think a lot of people don't understand who they're intended for.
Unless you're a beta tester, are testing the SP beta/RC in a controlled enterprise environment prior to widespread rollout, or you need it to fix a SPECIFIC bug/issue you know it will solve, just wait for the final.
There's absolutely no justification for installing the betas/RCs otherwise except perhaps for the sake of curiosity.

This is a Service Pack (updates/bug fixes etc)
I've heard good things and so far no problems.
Microsoft doesn't recommend you install this on a anything but a test system.
That being said, i like the direction 64 bit Vista is headed.

I loved vista from the very beginning. But! Now I understand why some people were unpleased with vista vanilla. Vista sp1 is like a diferrent OS - so much faster, stable, etc. I did have all the separate pre-sp1 hotfixes, still sp1 makes a significant change. (I've been enjoying mine since feb, 5)

I have RC1. I purchased from Microsoft the beta and got on 2 dvd's. One 32 and one 64. I have Pavilon dv9008nr and allmost everything works. The video driver comeon dist and sound and wireless.
The HP it is lagging with relise 64 bit support. The base drivers do not work. I tryied to download the CR2 , but no luck. When goest to speed -photoshop7 operate twice faster and other graphic programs. Even my canon i9900 printer it is supported. I love 64 Vista.Just wish that HP will stop dragging the base drivers.
The link to download for CR2 do not work.

If you have a 64-bit CPU, then you should use 64-bit Vista.
64-bit XP wasn't a mainstream OS, so people are now a little hesitant to go 64-bit Vista.
