I give NetServer a 4 because while it is a great piece of software, it isn't fully up to par with other solutions currently available such as Apache2Triad, XAMPP and WAMPP at this time.
I do find the control methods more intuitive than those included with XAMPP and I hope they work this to their advantage.
For a beta... this works pretty well but hopefully by the 1.0 release they will have fleshed out more features and options.

NS /is/ an Open Source project at SourceForge. The developer has moved his website elsewhere due to SF.net's issues with the respose time of their web server(s).

Had you surfed to http://tinyurl.com/9xzlx, you would have easily disovered that the current version of NetServer ships with the following:
Server versions :
- Apache/2.0.53 mod_perl/1.99_16
- Perl/v5.8.6
- PHP/4.3.11
- PHP/5.0.4
- mod_ssl/2.0.53
- OpenSSL/0.9.7e
- MySQL 4.1.10a
- hMailServer 3.4.1 (Build 86)
- Filezilla Server 0.9.6a
Don't forget that NetServer is still early in the development stage. IMO, it's much easier to use than A2T and pretty much anything else out there. It ships with carefully chosen and up to date versions of some of the most influential open source applications. And it's less than 20MB to boot (as opposed to a2T's 78.5MB). If you don't like something about it, you should definitely consider posting in its forums -- your feedback is always welcome and will definitely influence what this project becomes.

Well, you could head over to the download section of the site and there you would find the release notes, changelog, and server versions used by them. And if you could not see the changelog in the download section. There is a file inside the package that says "Changelog.txt", try to read that as well as the "README_FIRST.txt". You might think that there are better packages out there, you are maybe right, that is why this is still beta release.

If you're looking for a PROFESSIONAL example of what Open Source can do, look elsewhere. Many OSS projects are inadequately documented, but this one takes the cake. Other than knowing that there is some unspecified build of PHP 4.x and a build of PHP 5.x included, there isn't the slightest clue as to what versions of Apache, OpenSSL, Perl, MySQL, etc. are included. No release notes, no manifest, nothing meaningful in the FAQ. I even surfed all the way to the Portugeuse forum and there's not even any info there. I've seen spyware that is more forthcoming about itself than this package!

As easy as it claims. In a few minutes you have a server running. Then you can install XOOPS and your site is open for business.

Very good at what it's designed to do. Allows quick access to configuration and setup of all included servers.
Alex93053 reviewed v0.1 Beta 3 on Feb 23, 2005
Quick, clean install.
Good Points:
-the www directory is right where you would look for it
-The dialogue boxes are easy to understand and with one click everything gets started
