Tribalweb does the same job and you have also group and private chatroom available. Problem was that you had to pay for high speeds, nice thing was that it created thumbnails for pics. My experience is that it is very hard to find somebody who wants to join in, so I stopped wasting my time with it..
Must see this program shows nice design but cannot tell you anything about it..

i was downloading Powerfolder some month ago and i was playing around with the free version.
and it never let me down. i really like that i dont need a server. i had some problems to use it in my company because we are keeping our firewall as closed as possible. But with the pro version this is fixed, because they added an http-tunnel so i can use it now even behind this firewall. of course you can switch off this feature so i have a nice secure network synced with Powerfolder and my computer as a gateway. so we are safe and we have still control but we also are able to send data outside.
what i see also as a plus is that they keep developing it and that i can really get good support. the forum is very helpful and if you really should have a request for something urgent you can still go to the irc and get information and help there. not the common way but far better than waiting days for some reply on your email as it might happen on other software companies.
i am happy

PowerFolder supports delta sync since 2.0!
In addition it doesn't need any servers since it is completely peer-to-peer base. I fact you can use nodes/computers as "servers" but that isn't required.
Another nice feature of PowerFolder which is not included in iFolder: The Online Storage/WebInterface.
PowerFolder is capable of securely storing files on the web by giving the user the opportunity to download them with his plain webbrowser (password protected)!

Looks very nice for a Java based app!
It doesnt do delta synchronization, which is a shame, but this is a nice start. As a java app it does require some 64mb RAM (and the latest JRE 1.5) but thats OK.
Alternative:
Also check out Novell's iFolder. It is also cross platform, runs in the background and is even less obtrusive than PowerFolder. Instead of profiles you can use Explorer to make any folder an iFolder.
Now, iFolder 3 consist of 2 parts:
- an open source, free client that works in peer to peer mode (P2)
- a commercial iFolder server, part of Novell's Open Enterprise Server.
My point is, you do NOT need the iFolder server if you just want to do peer to peer sync like PowerFolder does. And yes, iFolder does do delta syncs.
