Publisher's Description
PowerGREP is a powerful grep tool for quickly searching for a piece of information through files and folders on your computer, such as software source code, letters and correspondence, server or system logs, reference texts, historic archives, etc. Even if you do not know in advance exactly what you are looking for. In that situation, its rich Perl-compatible regular expression support allows you to search for virtually anything by specifying the form of what you want, and let it find the actual text matching that form.

This sound great, but I can't justify the price, especially since grepWin is FREE and open source http://stefanstools.sourceforge.net/

Although indecently pricey, this software is the effin GOD of anything regexp-related. Only feature I could miss is the deletion (from the file system) of files from within the search results.
EDIT: also it's now € 129.00 insane! :0

$99 for this? You must be kidding!

I own all of the other JG soft products and think they are excellent
5 for grep usage 1 for price = 3
This is the only one I don't own - as stated below: it is too expensive to purchase for intermittant (sp?) usage.
I also think it would be good if a discount were offered based on number of products already owned.

Compare the screenshots and see which one has had no improvement - everyone has to make a living unless you are some whiney rich kid:

Excellent application, but I am not going to buy it for this price. It could be priced between $40 - $50 range it will pay back for the developer.

The price tag on this application is, indeed, high if you're used to shelling out 10-40 bucks for applications -- but just like you pay more for a truck than a go cart or more for a multi-course meal than a fast food value meal: You get what you pay for.
Those complaining about the price and/or learning curve need to understand that PowerGrep is not designed for your fledgling windows user -- it's something just anyone should throw 150 dollars at. PowerGrep is designed for power users--for those with advanced text processing needs. If you're a developer or in another trade/hobby where complex operations need to be performed across multiple files, PowerGrep is worth a look (and the money). PowerGrep is without question the most powerful utility for text workers. For what it does, the interface is friendly and intuitive and you should be able to pick it up pretty quick. To help facilitate learning it, there are a number of demonstrative videos available.
Feature for feature, PowerGrep is unparalleled. I think it's really a shame that so many here are ignorantly rating this application low because of its price. Ratings should be based on the software itself, regardless of price. If you're unable to understand the application itself, you have no business trying to determine its value.
Let me emphasize one point again: Work with data? Try PowerGrep.

it is really a shame that people take open source software and try to make money out of it without improving it in any way...
Open Source GUI (normal or .NET):

$99, are you kidding? Anyone shelling out one hundred bucks for this has no idea of the value of their money, and should send me $25 for reading this comment.
After checking out the interface, it looks unprofessional and it probably does what it say it does, but the learning curve is way too high for me to even stick with a trial.
And 15 days for a trial is a bit short. I'm not sure how much GREPping I need to do in 2 weeks.

Very expensive for that kind of utility. Also its UI needs major redesign (as all Jan's programs). Get FileLocator Pro instead of this
