Publisher's Description
Sodipodi is a vector-based drawing program, like CorelDraw or Adobe Illustrator from the proprietary software world, and Sketch or Karbon14 from the free software world. It is free software, distributed under the terms of the Gnu General Public License, Version 2. It uses W3C SVG as its native file format and therefore is a very useful tool for web designers. Sodipodi is written in C, using the Gtk+ toolkit and optionally some Gnome libraries.

Discontinued in 2004, does not support modern Windows OS. Fun fact: Inkscape was based off of Sodipodi.

Windows version is very buggy and outdated. The interface is unfriendly by trying too much to be minimalist.
Check out Inkscape instead for a better mantained, open-source, fork of the project. And with a better interface.

Bro. Rat: 32mb runtime environment!? Yeah right!
http://www.dropline.net/gtk/download.php
It's only a bit over 5megs. And if you use GIMP for Windows and/or GAIM for Windows then you don't have to download it multiple times, they all use the same GTK package. In fact if you already have GAIM for Windows installed and working, then you already have GTK+ installed properly and don't need to redownload it.
Sodipodi is excellent for what is intended. The format IS A STANDARD! Look it up. You're right about the documentation though. Like most Linux software the documentation is VERY POOR! However you can get a quickstart guide here that covers most of the basics: http://hawthorn.csse.mon...awing-packages/sodipodi/

I manage to crash it 4 times in the first 10 minutes when clicking the selection tool...and has the same problem that gimp has.. regardless of OS.. a incredibly cluttered interface that makes it more of a "hunt for the right palette" than a useful tool..

Excellently done! This applications is relatively easy to use, and leaves out alot of bloat that other image editors have. Love the 1337 L1nux interface, and i.m.h.o. applications written by freelance programmers are alot better than the commercial writers. (e.g. IrfanView and Slowview are preferred more than ACDSee... Don't believe me? Check the reviews... Freelance apps are written better >=] )

The free UXTheme MultiPatcher is enough to use custom Visual Styles. Installation procedure: http://www.lightstar1.com/install.htm. StyleXP stays resident in memory even with the "Use no Resources" was set. StyleXP could be useful to novice users who don't know how to uncompress the new VS in C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes

I have also used it since 1.0 and 2.0 just make using it even better. Now being able to change boot screens and icons on top of the stuff before is wonderful in my opinion.

Wow, I can't believe someone actually took the challenge to write something like this! And make it FREEWARE! What's even more interesting is that what took a team of professional programers to build, one single person is actually putting her hands down and doing it!
Anyways, the program looks pretty clean and polished. Still very Linux looking from the way the windows look.
I would very much like to see this take off and hope many people support this!
Good luck Lauris!
