Unknown Device Identifier will identify unknown devices in your system especially after you reinstall your system and cannot figure out what all those yellow question mark labeled devices really are. Help you search for workable drivers on the Internet. Driver backup is optional if you have all your device drivers installed.

Good concept, but poor execution.
You'd think that a program at v6.0 would atleast have a decent feature set..
For instance, it fails to detect my (unidentified) bluetooth dongle. All it shows is "Unknown Device" The details just say "PnpID: usb\unknown"! I mean, even my device manager shows more info than that ! (VID and PID). The irony is, its showing all the identified/known devices in my computer and not helping even a bit in the unidentified department! O_o
Speaking of identified devices, since this program is meant for unknown devices, it should at least, by default, hide the known ones? Or the least it can do is categorize them so that we can zero in on the unknown device? But no, when you launch the program you're bombarded with all the little things that are even remotely considered devices. Not that's its a bad thing, but the way its presented makes it a bad thing. At least give us some icons for crying out loud!
The final nail in the coffin is the driver search feature. What does it do? Here's a secret : It opens up a Google page and searches for "Unknown Device Driver Download .exe OR .zip". :O
The dev should have had enough sense to atleast have it search by the device VID/PID in such cases.
At the end of the day, I still rely on my trusty Device Manager.
Don't get me wrong though, this program works great in cases like identifying a device which would have otherwise not been identified just because you didn't install the chipset drivers (aka, good at identifying common devices, say, like the intel gfx chipset), but in a real world scenario where the device IDs aren't present in its database, this program is of no use.

Not a virus detected nor any spyware , have been using this program for years , new version is slick but the ad on close is suspect , one more click but not near as bad as ccleaner's new bs or gawd forbid the new driverguide.

It works fine and it has help me (by the way....I tested it with my KASPERSKY scanner, it is not virus or trojan inside)
