WinKey, part of the Passware Kit, actually works and works well too. But some of the negative aspects are:

1) Doesn't support blank Admin passwords
2) The boot-disk occupies WAY too much space
3) Doesn't support editing of other user accounts
4) Doesn't support locked or disabled accounts
5) Doesn't reset the failed logon count
6) Doesn't have useful features like Registry editing

However, some of the plus points are:

1) It just works. 99.99% of the time.
2) Way too easy to use
3) Maximum compatibility as its based on your Windows setup files itself.

My recommendation:
A shareware program, and that too offering so less features is definately not worth it. At all.

Simply head over to:

Home of the Offline NT Password & Registry Editor (freeware)
In one sentence- Overcomes all the limitations of WinKey.
