AOL Communicator is good and allows you to read web based email but it is just a shame you can't read MSN mail/HTTP but there isn't really any need for this program as you can get MSN mail and AOL mail on the web but you can also receive AOL mail through Outlook Express and Opera 8

Personally, I hate FreePOPs. eMail2Pop was worked perfectly for me. I used it before Gmail began offering free POP3 access. On _many_ occassions after I just used the regular POP3 access from Gmail I was finding connection errors. It was something on Google's end and it was not stable. I switched back to eMail2Pop. Minus when Google tweaks something there have been no problems and eMail2Pop is quickly updated.

There was a time when this program was valuable. Now though, with a choice between FreePops (as kmleow mentioned), and AOL's open access (via IMAP), there's really no need for it at all.

aol has webmail and imap. Using a tool to fetch Gmail is violative of google's TOS -- aside from that there's another Gmail too that's completely freeware and will soon offer IMAP for Gmail.

This kind of program is unnecessary at this point, due to the fact that AOL has now opened up their mail servers to both IMAP (imap.aol.com) and SMTP (smtp.aol.com).

I downloaded and installed. But when I saw all the baggage associated with the trial version, I uninstalled it. Being a businessman, I don't want adverts attached to my emails, and delays when trying to use my email. If you want my business then let me truly examine the product without penalizing my work process.

I dont think there is a need for this program anymore, now that AOL is testing its newest "AOL Communicator" which i might say is pretty sweet. It doest POP3 and AOL, no HTML yet. But still. Overall however, this program rocks, i give it 5.

I use AOL because I'm relatively new to the Internet. But I outgrew AOL's mail program pretty quickly because I wanted to use the same Outlook program which I use at work. At first, I tried Web2Pop which was okay for what it was, but it is NOT DESIGNED to send mail. Me, I want to send AND receive mail. So I got AOL2Pop. Instant easy setup, even for a moron like me. Now I can use Outlook to send and receive mail with AOL. As my grandson would say, "AOL2Pop is the BOMB!"

Wow! This 0.94 Beta version is working great for me. The mini-stat window is a great feature to add, lets me see all that is going on with AOL2Pop. Overall stability is excellent. No error messages when using. POP3 and SMTP procedures are "flying" for me, up to twice as fast as previous versions. Great job Mr AOL2Pop developer!
Looking forward to trying out new betas, as well as purchasing the final gold release when done.

This thing is SLICK!! Slick XP style interface and does exactly what it is supposed to do. The AOL mail client is so crappy it is nice to use Outlook without any problems.

The author was very smart to put in an expiration date to get you to go back for the latest version. For me, this thing has worked flawlessly for months. I only upgrade because of the expiration date.

This may be in beta, but as far as I am concerned it is install it and forget it PERFECT!!

i like this program. i don't use aol anymore either, but some of my family does. i've forwared it to them.

to those discussing hotmail: a program called Web2Pop allows you to use hotmail and yahoo accounts as a pop account. i use it for my yahoo accounts. it's not free though, so i'm sure that will piss most of you off.

This AOLPop is an excellent program in my opinon.
I have been looking for something like this for quite
a while.

I no longer use AOL, but my family does, and I still use my AOL email address. So great to finally have a program that allows me to read and send AOL mail using Outlook Express!

I saw some comments questioning if AOL2Pop is free or not. My understanding is that it is free while in Beta testing,
but will be a charge to use it after it goes "gold."

From the AOL2Pop website page, and forum info,I see that the 14 day trial dates are there to make sure all users have
downloaded and are using the current version. Afterall,
this is a beta program now, and the author wants to be
sure that he is getting feedback from users of his
current release. The website says a new program will
be released before the beta trial expires, so no
need to worry about the date.

Great product, and I will get some great use from it!
From what I have seen with this Beta version, it is very
stable and works great. I think I will be buying it when the final version comes out.
