ok so I realize this is a beta but in my opnion its back to square 1 for this mess. No page formatting or other basic features, heck I couldnt get past the Image I loaded. Nope this one isnt a Front Page Clone, in fact its headin for the back page. I never rate a 2 but it gets it and man was it hard to do

Saying this is similar to Frontpage is like saying Notepad is similar to Word. I would actually rather use Notepad then this. it has an awful interface too; It reminds me of some DesktopX widget gone horribly wrong.
Stay away from this one.

Just FYI, the requirements originally said .NET 1.1 framework, not 2.0. The author later changed it

Not really an overly clever move releasing a program that depends on version 2 of the .NET Framework, as it only exists in beta form itself.
As for the software, it’s more of a gimmick than anything else, and one where the novelty wears off pretty quick.

Maybe everyone that said "It throws an error and then exit" should have looked at the requirements...
.NET FrameWork 2.0 is needed. Try updating and then cry if it doesnt work. Beside that, i think it's a little bloated and i dont really like the theme. Yes its pretty and all but i prefer notepad because it doesnt have to load for an hour to show up...

I had the same proiblem as Beltway, it throws a God awful error screen and dies a horrible death. What a piece of terrible code. This is not beta it's pre-alpha.

The app, after installation, throws a full page error message and quits without displaying the UI at all. Avalon appears to be more in alpha stage than beta. Hope others can at least see the UI.

I do agree with most of the previous comments. But I must say how nice it is to see someone actually using Longhorn stuff now, and not waiting until it is upon us (when ever that'll be). Why? Because otherwise there won't be anything designed for longhorn on its release.

I clicked the Avalon link thinking it was an update for the Avalon UI framework but I was surprised it is none other than some schmuck using the same name and a longhorn UI for a notepad replacement! YAY!
Nice try retard.

This looks promising, it's got a nice look about it (fromt the screenshots)- BUT, Using the "Longhorn UI" IMO isn't a good move, the Longhorn UI is non-standard and different from most other apps at the moment. Secondly, it's black, most people find light text on dark background difficult to read. Thirdly, 9Mb.. you must be joking, for what is touted as a notepad replacement... that's massive... but maybe that's the wonder of .net applications... big and bloaty!
