There's no sham.
I bought a key over a year ago and it still works with any version released within that timeframe.
For obvious reasons it does not work with versions released after my key exipred.

To all users that complaing about this app not burning any CD at all:
You can't have Easy CD Creator and ie Nero installed at the same time. You will not be able to burn in one program or the other.
