Bvckup creates exact copies of specified folders and then continuously keeps them synchronized. The most notable feature of the program is its streamlined user interface. The interface is specifically designed and optimized for a day-to-day use by providing clear status indication, concise error reporting and a one-click access to additional information.
Bvckup supports real-time, scheduled or manual backups, complete or delta file copying, customizable file backup lists, copying of the file attributes, timestamps, NTFS security and ownership information. Additionally it can operate in a NAS-friendly mode that eliminates unneccessary spin-ups of idle harddisks.

I'm more likely to use it once it has 64-bit Vol. Shadow Copy support. More than 1 year since update so maintenance doesn't look so good.

Tried it before, moved on and then tried it again recently. For a 400KB program it is really well done and it is incredibly fast. It is missing some essential features, and the deal breaker for me was the lack of symbolic link support on W7. If that's added, I will drop SyncBack and adopt Bvckup.

Bvckup has the potential of becoming a very good backup application. It has a nice, clean and simple GUI, which is quite rare nowadays, it is not written in .NET Framework (I stopped using PureSync because of that), it is fast. But it still needs a lot of work- it is a bit unstable, while uninstalling it crashed Explorer so I got my Quick Launch icons re-arranged and the uninstall process was a slow one (I tested it on XP SP3). It still misses some features- for example it cannot compare two directories before any backup task is performed. While executing the backup it does not show which files will be synchronized- it shows only the number of entries to be written in the destinatiion directory.
The author of this application says that "The beta is free, it has no restrictions or limitations and the beta license is non-expiring.", but is that true? I don't think so. For example, if I re-install Windows and meanwhile Bvckup has become shareware, I won't be able to use the old Beta version again, because after installation the program requests obtaining an registration key from the server which I would not be able to get after Bvckup becomes shareware. So it means this is not exactly freeware, freeware means no restrictions, no registrations, no license keys, total freedom of use, and this is not the case here. I am sure the author is getting a lot of useful information by the testers about bugs and crashes and yet he is not willing to give even these Beta releases for free with no limitations. Of course he has the right to do whatever he wants with his product, but I don't think that his attitude towards the testers is the nicest one.

Well, as an owner of this entry I have a choice between "freeware", "shareware", "adware", "commercial demo", "open source" and "subscription" for the license field.
This entry is for the beta. The beta is free, it has no restrictions or limitations and the beta license is non-expiring. How is it "lying" about it not being a freeware?

For such a small program, this appears to be a great bit of kit. Fairly flexible in terms of configuration. There are improvements that could be made, one of which would be the ability to copy a back up profile so that you could edit it for another drive. I like this, that it's free is a bonus.

Pros: clean-looking, no-nonsense, well thought out. Con: Not truly Freeware. Only free during beta (which is true for 99% of all betas). After beta, personal license will be $20 and business $50. Should be labelled Commercial Demo.

This one looks promising. It just a directory cloning tool, but they optimized the hell out of it and it is really fast. The interface is nice too, clearly has lots of thought put in it.
Beta is missing some must-haves at the moment, the VSS support and running as a service.

Worked fine for the first folder group I set up, but consistently crashes on the second. Should also be noted that this program is shareware, with a 6 month "beta" license.
