DVD Flick is a simple but at the same time powerful DVD Authoring tool. It can take several video files stored on your computer and turn them into a DVD that will play back on your DVD player, Media Center or Home Cinema Set.
DVD Flick is Open Source, meaning that anyone can download and view or modify the program's source code. It also means that it is absolutely free of charge. Several external programs are used by DVD Flick to do the dirty work like encoding and combining of video material. All of these programs are free, some are Open Source too.

According to the DVDFlick forums, what the developers call "portable" is actually a stripped down version (no shared libraries, to cut down on file size) for beta-testing. It was never designed to be portable, and in fact is not portable as the .ocx's were not included.
Anyway, it looks like this is the FULL version now attached to the portable link.
The full version does work well.

'Portable' requires no install and ideally should write to the application folder and not the registry. Portable apps keep your system free of clutter and can be used from usb and other portable drives. The number of apps with portable versions is growing rapidly.
DvdFlick seems to work well but requires about 3 hours for a 700mg vid on my admittedly low spec machine (1.8ghz, 1gb ram). Use portable.bat to start the program, to avoid error messages.

Unless I'm totally mistaken (and I have been ) this is DVD Flick "Portable", NOT DVD Flick. I had the same errors others are reporting when I tried to install this.
I'm rating this for the "Portable" version.
DVD Flick 1.3.0.0 Build 616 (beta) works great.
EDIT:
I see rcglidden below commented on the same thing. What is the Portable version about?

Both builds 671 and 674 have the same error as reported by rcglidden below...I'm surprised to see this fatal error persist over several builds...average rating as I can't run the application with this error in place.

I have tried this before and it worked fine.
This version gives me a "comct232.ocx" error and refuses to start, so... I can't rate it a 5 if I can't run it! But that's what beta's are all about!

This is the PORTABLE version, did I miss that somewhere in the description? The build 674 full install is available (and works) in the DVDFlick forums. The full version includes the .ocx's
So I wonder, how is this portable!?

Takes me about 25 minutes to convert a 2 hour movie into a DVD (including the time it takes to burn it), what else do you need?.

12.5 hrs later I had an mpg (and 11 other odd files) of a quality which exactly matched convertx's entire completed (in about 2 hrs!) dvd.

Review of Prev version: Great App. Quick and easy, I don't care much for DVD Menu's these days so it's a nice clean app. I just wish there was an option to NOT touch an AC3 5.1 Audio file I input. It keeps recoding them, messing up the discreet channels and making it sound more like a Dolby Digital 2.0 rather than full 5.1 surround.
RaGhul: What kind of system are you using DVD Flick with. Only reason I ask is becuase i use a 1.3ghz AMD Athlon XP with 786MB of RAM and it took me 2.5hrs to build a 2 hours movie from 2 DivX files on Above Normal

Excellent free program for converting AVI, MPG, MOV, WMV, ASF, FLV, Matroska and MP4 to DVD. Easy to use and did I mention it was free?
