Find and Run Robot is a program for keyboard maniacs - it helps you rapidly find programs or documents from within the depths of the start menu (or other directories). One keypress launches the utility - then just start typing the first letters of the application you want to launch. As you type the best matches are shown - just hit the number to launch the associated program.

Find and Run Robot is an application I wish I had written myself. I know I'd be proud of it forever. With the Start menu in Win95, Microsoft decided mouse was the optimal interface for launching applications. It took them about 14 years to figure out that that was a bad idea, so in Windows 7 you can now **type** in the Start menu, too. What an idea!
Whether you're on 7, XP or Win95 still, try Find and Run Robot and find out how fast and how smoothly you can launch any shortcut or file in the Start menu, Quick Launch toolbar, or any folders of your own choosing. Start typing the name of what you need, and it'll be there right away.
But unlike most other keyboard-oriented launchers, FARR doesn't just scan for matching filenames. You can type only a part of the name - the ending part is just as good as the beginning. If you misspell the name, FARR will keep up with you as best it can. It will subtly prioritize the applications you start often, placing them higher in the list of results. And it lets you create your own hints about what should be scored higher or lower. If you've ever enjoyed Google's “I'm feeling lucky" button, you'll love FARR, because it figures out what you mean in a similar way.
Then there are the special features: aliases and plugins which extend the base functionality, letting you search not just for shortcuts, but for pretty much everything on your computer or on the net. Some plugins interface FARR with other file finders, such as Locate32 or Everything. Other plugins let you use FARR to launch your browser's bookmarks or use it as a calculator.
Find and Run Robot is one incredibly inventive and versatile application. But if you don’t need all the advanced magic, it’s still a fast and convenient launcher that saves you time with every program you run.
Check out the configuration options, elegant skins... and check out Mouser's how-to videos on donationcoder.com. You will laugh at the pitiful little command box Microsoft belatedly added to the Start menu. Just use FARR.

a freeware program should be full functioning right out of the box. i think the problem here is the category, this should be under shareware me believes. since the author feels bad about rating his own product (he gave it a 5), i will give it a 2 for balance.

Oh FARR, how much time have you saved me? Countless hours of wading through menus to find my documents and program links. While Windows Vista has this functionality kinda built into it, FARR runs circles around it. I am glad to see the author, Mr. Reichler, keeping up with this because I am wondering how it compares to the Windows 7 Search function. Supposedly it's been revamped. I will see when I return from my trip over the water.

Fast, highly functional, customizable, and quickly becomes an indispensable tool. Too bad Windows 7 doesn't have this built in; but even if it did, I'd still use this version.

It is the most feature-complete and most advanced launcher out there! It simply rocks! I love it, and even I use only a minor amount of features and plugins it has (because it requires someone to remember the syntax of the commands-plugins) it greatly simplifies computer usage.

I really dislike having to register programs to get a key if they are free. If the developers of the program need money, they can have a link in the program menus or something for people to donate. Having to register and get an e-mail with a key in it is a real pain.
Other than that, the actual program is good.

I try to avoid posting here because i don't think this is meant to be a discussion forum, but i need to reply and don't know any other way to contact you.
Quick point 1, i consider zaine ridling a good friend, but i don't have any say over what he posts here or anywhere and his opinions are his own.
Quick point 2, i personally respect that you don't like the approach we have taken. I've written up a long article about the decisions and philosophy of the site and it's on our site for anyone who is curious or wants to learn more.
Quick point 3, i don't remember any email from you. i don't send out any license keys that last for a year, i don't think i know how, unless something went wrong. the normal way of getting a free key is to sign up at our forum and get sent a 6 month key after which you can come back and get another and then a lifetime key.
if someone emails me and says they have considered it but decided they will not be donating, or if they email after 1 year of signing up, i send them a lifetime key for all of our programs. my email is mouser@donationcoder.com, i'd appreciate it if you contact me and at least let me figure out what you are talking about when you say you emailed and got a 1yr key.

Your schtick is tired and lame. It's donationware; it's been explained a 100 times here; the author will give you a free key if you email him and you're too cheap to donate even $1 lousy dollar. He's not asking to get rich, just wants to keep programming. And dude, the boy can CODE.
So take it somewhere else. We're tired of you same ol' b.i.t.c.h.i.n. here.

The nagware for this program does NOT bother me MAINLY BECAUSE of the prolific amount of apps produced.. heck, if all authors did that, this'd be a great world.

I REALLY hate having to sign up to get a license key. It's nagware, not freeware. The program is great but requiring a license key is really unnecessary and stupid.

This is an ACTIVELY developed application with development driven, in part, by its user base through dialog with its developer. It's lightning quick, light on resources, and non-intrusive.
