Its Ok, kinda like UBUNTU.
but please don't rate a linux product on how it looks, save that for the KDE or Gnome sections.
You guys should take a look at DesktopBSD or Free BSD with KDE. Just google it, i aint adding a link cause I aint no fanboy or B&$#t rep making a buck.
I didnt really think there was an operating system that had a community of users as big as linux, that considered linux and its variants inferior, as the linux community and its users regard windows as inferior.
For linux, stick with Ubuntu. Otherwise if you hate windows go with a BSD derivative. End of story.

I'm an Ubuntu guy, but I installed it today (which took about 8 minutes!) and it really is the best of both worlds. The overall system is quicker to setup with Freespire than Ubuntu (not knocking Ubuntu), mainly because I can find drivers for my both monitor and videocard rather than on what is given to me. Except for the taskbar, the "look" is really more like Xandros, and for a Linux n00b like me, it's stupid-proof.
Freespire and Ubuntu are working together on normalizing installations, so later this year, these two Linux distros should reign. And Freespire will be just as popular as Ubuntu within a year I bet.

Well, WE at least mentioned the software at hand.
Anyway, they've now announced that the CNR service (basic) will be free from here on out. (used to be $20) Very nice, especially with the upcoming CNR software being open sourced. This distro's looking better and better for those looking for a Windows alternative.
I still take a point off for lingering root security issues. (It's still relatively-secure, just not as secure as other distributions.)

Seems like all posted reviews are on how it looks or appears to work...

Prospero424, I haven't tried Freespire yet but I guess it works like in SimplyMEPIS: everything is on the installation CD and you choose the elements (with one click!) during the installation (some of the are already installed like proprietary audio/video codecs, so you do not have to do anything). You do not have to connect the Internet, use apt-get, etc. Everything practically out of the box.
Forgive me if I am wrong. I am only guessing :-)

Looks like a nice KDE distro, but as far as "...provides users the choice of including proprietary codecs, drivers and applications as they see fit", correct me if I"m wrong, but can't you do the same thing with distributions such as Ubuntu simply by adding the right repositories?
As I said: it looks like a nice distro, I just wonder if this is the right thing to advertise as distinguishing this debian-based distribution from any other.
yokozuna - Good point, I just think it would have been more productive to focus on, say, the ease-of-use nature of the CNR client instead.
I'm certainly happy they've released this free alternative to Linspire, though. Good stuff.
