If developers (unintentionally, of course) use third party tools to achieve their compression results, it is shows that they have no trust in their own potential, so it would be a waste of time to expect improvements.

That post was made relating to an earlier version. According to the news section for it on its homepage, all 3rd party softwares have been removed from it. I suggest that you try looking for them in it.

I think that this program shows promise. I agree with people stating that it has a bad UI and hope that it'll be improved in a later version. It has problems (since its a beta) that should be fixed soon (along with any licensing issues).

worst than even winzip
this will NEVER replace winrar or 7zip

Lots of bad points here:
1. Terrible UI...lose the skin.
2. Compression takes to long and eats all your system resources.
3. It messes with system files.
4. Bloated 15 meg download compared to WinRAR 1 meg.
Can't even think about using this over WinRAR.

My conclusions are that Infima doesn't bring anything new into the compression scene. Its compression ratios are quite similar to other when dealing documents and archives.
The difference is when compressing audio and video files. Infima can reduce the size a single mp3 file by 40% and even more. How it can be lossless?
Well, I think the answer is that it is simply NOT. According to my tests, my MP3 files lost 50% of their original size AFTER decompression! and even though I'm not an audio expert I can notice that my file has lost a wide range of its high frequencies and it simply sounds bad!!! Calling this lossless would be simply a lie. In addition, my file also lost its ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags.
And what about the program itself? Even though the software is still a BETA, it is a shame to release such version. It took the developers two versions to understand they have a serious problem with the installation. "OUT OF MEMORY" was the maximum result most of people were able to get of this program. And now that I finally able to run it, I discovered that after a simple compression, your computer will be filled with "garbage" files such as "tmparc", some "$$$tmp" files and maybe more I didn't notice. In addition, my original filename was changed. Why do they touch it anyway?!?!
My recommendation (for now anyway): STAY AWAY! Infima is currently just a bad joke: It's slow, buggy, and the worst thing, it's NOT lossless, it will simply damage you files!
