ImgBurn is an excellent burning application, and it includes its own update check, letting you know if a newer version is available.
To all who are lauding StaxRip as being "better" than AviDemux, that all depends on what you want to do with it. StaxRip is a video converter. Period. Even if your source format and target format are the same, it will still reprocess the file. And as everyone should know, every time you reprocess a video file, you lose image quality.
AviDemux, on the other hand, allows you to simply copy the video and audio streams if desired, so you don't lose any quality. And it allows you to remove frames, or add frames, or even append other files of the same format. It is especially useful for editing MPEG2 video files (such as files ripped from DVDs). Yes, it has its bugs, but they are not so bad as to call it a "bugfest," and no software, not even StaxRip, is completely free of bugs. You can also get Version 2.5.6 of AviDemux from SourceForge, which takes care of some of those bugs.
NOTE: AviDemux Version 2.6.6 (also available on SourceForge) is almost an entirely different program from Version 2.5.6. So if your source and target formats are both MPEG2 and you're simply copying the streams (such as cutting out parts of DVDs, or creating clips from DVDs), I recommend using Version 2.5.6.

As being said, AviDemux IS a good converter, but it's always a bugfest, Staxrip on the other hand is extremely polished and does all anyone needs in conversion.

They Better? Do it yourself dork. Avidemux is great. I DO NOT use it for video conversion. Only for fixing or changing the audio to cbr which it does BETTER than virtualdub. In fact, the only reason I am downing this is for avidemux. The rest I either don't need or already have.

Instead of that crap AviDemux, they better included StaxRip, which DOES work correctly, while Avidemux is one giant bugfest.

for being such an "expert", its amazing how white lightning has never heard of VirtualDub, which does way more than avidemux can.
if anyone out there is knowledgeable enough to author their own dvd's (with menus) but still trust k-lite developers to cherry pick the "best" software for the job, then theres something seriously wrong with software development today.

Please serious comments, don't try to write like an expert while you are not .
Avidemux is a "simple" software & "simple" should be a good transcoder, easy to use for rookies but it has a lot of settings for more experts .
I used a lot of converters (even very expansive : more then 500$) & they could do exactly the same as Avidemux .
Another time thanks for the updates .
Who said i don't know VirtualDub ?
Avidemux is the best software for simple works, obviously it is not the best video software on the market .

Although K-Lite gets a 5 for packaging this set, the individual components all earn a 4. ImgBurn is a great burning utility, but a bit confusing to use, mainly because of the GUI. DVDStyler won't convert and burn AVI's. Avidemux is a primitive converter, and is not very useful.

The K-Lite team has done an outstanding job with their codec packs over the years. A video conversion pack's a fine idea. Thanks, K-Lite.
