The setpoint's logitech sofware version 6.32 which is the latest version can not be installed in my win 7 professional x64 OS. After going through the setup it appears in the list of windows programs as Set Point 6.32 (using the Programs and Feautures module in the Control Panel) but does not shows in the C:\Programs Files neither in the C:\Programs Files (x86) directories. I was using setpoint ver 6.30 with the Logitech M705 mouse. But after finding that the mouse moved erratically when trying to scroll I tried the newer version 6.32. A red warning appeared during the setup telling that the setup failed to install, but try again. I tried twice, with the same warning. I unistalled set point 6.3 and try again the 6.32 with no sucees.

Setpoint Version 4.x forgot about the horizontal scroll from my LX3 mouse.
Rather than re-install V4 from th CD that came with the mouse, I downloaded 6.32.
Worked fine for a couple of hours. Then, mouse clicks had no effect. Skipping details about floundering around, I alt-tabbed my way into an editor (emacs), and discovered the editor was receiving repeated keypad-leftarrow input.
Rebooting made the problem go away for a couple of hours. I did this several times. One time, the repeating imaginary keystroke was keypad-rightarrow, another time there was no apparent imaginary input.

I unplugged the keyboard, which had no effect.

I uninstalled Setpoint V6, and the problem has not recurred in several hours of running.

True, the pathology could be in some other software that somehow reaches into Setpoint's data.

I'm running with no Setpoint, which means there is no horizontal scroll, which is why I bought the LX3.

(I have two theories: Windows resents the Logitech mouse, and attacks it. Or Logitech resents my IBM keyboard, and fabricates bogus keystrokes.)

Doesn't work correctly for my G5 Gaming Mouse...

@killerost: Überoptions isn't compatible with higher than Setpoint 4.80!!

My mouse wheel acts speraoditlly jumping in Outlook 2010, it forgot to keep warning me my battery was low and it just died. I had to score the net for older drivers to install. Removing these junky drivers now.

I've been using SetPoint and a G5 mouse for a couple of years, and the only complaint I have is that I have not found a way, through SetPoint's interface, to disable the BlueTooth service it installs. I have no BlueTooth devices, so it is useless to me, and yet I cannot remove it. Aside from that, the software offers good features and functionality (even though it's a little bloated).

If you use Logitech Setpoint, don't miss out on Überoptions add-on for Setpoint. This little util will allow you to customize button/wheel settings for every program you use. Can send custom keyboard codes to different programs. It makes sence that wheelbutton left/right in Firefox should have another meaning than in e.g. Word. Get Überoptions at http://uberoptions.net/ (My rating here is WITH the Überoption add-on!)

sure it's a little bloated but it give acces to some custom & advanced feature and management (change default buttons behaviors, etc)

Here are the changelog from 6.0 to 6.1 :
The download size has been reduced by approximately 60%. This has been achieved by streamlining the code and removing device pictures from the download package. SetPoint will automatically download pictures in the background for devices that are connected to your system.
SetPoint 6.1 includes the control panels for standard mice and keyboards (previously supported in SetPoint 4.x) and gaming mice (previously supported in SetPoint 5.x). This reduces duplication of system components, resulting in a smaller overall installation size.
The SetPoint control panel for standard mice and keyboards has been updated with a new appearance.
Numerous bug fixes and stability enhancements have been made in SetPoint 6.1

Well, I've had the cordless MX laser mouse for many years with absolutely no problem. As far as the SetPoint software is concerned, XP, Vista and Windows 7 never needed it for my mouse to run perfectly. I also have the G15 Gaming Keyboard and 2.1 Logitech speakers. I will be upgrading these to the G19 Keyboard, the 7.1 Surround Gaming Headset and the newest gaming mouse. So, those of you who write of Logitech's quality simply have had bad luck or perhaps like to abuse your property a little too much. I stand behind the quality and options that Logitech products offer (though some, like the G19, come with a premium price tag). Being manufactured in China isn't a quality issue, though I would prefer that Logitech make its products in the Western Hemisphere, too.
Now I'm curious about all this negative hype over the Setpoint software and will install it just to see if you negative reviewers are 100% correct.
Later, after installation and use...the Setpoint software works just fine on my Windows 7, adds some nice options to my MX laser mouse and, wonderfully, doesn't conflict with the G15 software.

Following up on the review by AnClar, SetPoint 6.1 still does not fix the sensitivity issues with G5 mice, even though one of its primary fixes was supposed to be exactly that. You can see the large list of complaints in Logitech's support forums. 3months between releases, and the issue is still unresolved... incompetence at its finest.
