MoreAmp is an audio player loads ram or vdisk with songs so the hard disk can spindown while playing. wxWidget on OS9/X, win32, and unixX11/GTK. You can play and create ogg, flac, wav, aif, mp3, aac, m4a, mp4 + play cd, wma, and mp1/2 files. Includes support for drag & drop, repeat loop, 31-band eq, variable pitch/tempo, and more.

LOL the UI looks fun. Haven't seen an equalizer with that many slides on it in ages. Wish the Times to day would Trash that sorry a** pre-4 button equalizer. This is the way a tuner should look like.

Interesting, though I have not used it for any cd's. Have not noticed any ram usage (I have 2gigs). Quite the opposite. After loading a folder from an external drive (of mp3's) it was only using less than a meg of memory and the average amount of cpu (less than 10%). Guess it will work best with a cd but I like the eq gui and interesting options.
I assume the spindown and virtual drive option is specific to cd playback. Any disc worth playing is worth ripping to hd anyways. hate the things
Oh yeah and the exe will compress to 869kb's (from 2.88mb). Great standalone ap!

interesting app. seems to be inconsistent in the color coding of the settings or something.. not sure if spindown option is supposed to be available or what.. its just blue and doesnt change.. would be nice to load songs while the playlist is playing and load songs from different directories.. this may all be possible but i havent had any coffee yet..

First off, Don Juan "Huge memory hog, three to four times that of Windows Media Player". Are you seriously that naive? Read the description of the program: "MoreAmp is an audio player loads ram or vdisk with songs so the hard disk can spindown while playing." i.e. notebook users can save battery, etc...
Now onto the program: good concept, works as advertised. but it is horrible interface, way too many things coming up at start with no real use for them. But if it cleans itself up it can only get better.

Very poor GUI responsiveness in windows. Cluttered interface. Huge memory hog, three to four times that of Windows Media Player. But has several interesting and unique features. I will keep an eye out for future updates.

The only reason I don't give this a "5" is because the interface is rather busy and cluttered.
