Publisher's Description

RegScanner is a utility that allows you to scan the Registry, find the desired Registry values that match to the specified search criteria, and display them in one list. After finding the Registry values, you can jump to the right value in RegEdit, by double-clicking the desired Registry item.

What's the point of searching for registry strings and values when you can't modify them en masse? Registry Workshop is way better, you can search and replace strings and values with ease, compare registries, bookmark important registry locations or backup and restore registries, even by command line--in other words a true, full featured replacement for RegEdit. RegScanner scans faster than RegEdit and has a more granular time filter than Registry Workshop but that's the only advantage I see.

Far better than Microsoft's REGEDIT.

As a long-time user, this is a registry hackers dream.
Now with Wildcard (*) Support. Find a key, Double click it, & it
loads into Regedit (To do as you will)..?? It also comes as part
of the Nirsoft package.... >> Easily gets 5*

PK it's totally portable and needs no install if you use universal extractor.

For a program that has been around awhile and works on the registry I find that not having a uninstaller for the program is very odd way to care about users computers and the use of this program.

For having no uninstaller this program rates less for not giving a c**p about the end user.

No, it does and always has done more than regedit.
I use it every time I search

Tiny, clean & a complete utility which i was looking for since a long tyme :). Extracted the file and tried it on a vista machine. Worked great! I believe those "all in one" apps break things rather then helping me! Hence scan for what you want & manually remove it! Its really easy to create backups before doing so, which is just a right click away! :)

Thanks mate.

Very useful extension to RegEdit (adds a reasonably fast and more comfortable search). Being lightweight, free and easy to use there remains not much to wish for (I would like localisations, but then again this would make the program bigger). Some speed might be gained by updating the status bar less frequently during the search.

As a registry +scanner+ it's purpose isn't to obliterate or clean anything. It's just a scanner, and does the job a lot quicker than regedit, while collating the results into a list.

For free registry cleaning try Eusing Free Registry Cleaner, or the last freeware version of RegCleaner (4.3)

More good freeware from Nirsoft. Keep it up!

Pros: Just unzip the 3 files into your chosen folder.
Runs quickly & easily.
Can delete mass files found in one quick movement, if they are able to be deleted at all.
Can be done using keyboard alone.
Free, no ads,
very clean interface.

Cons: None that I can find.

Bottom Line: Far better than Microsoft's REGEDIT.

As a registry scanner (seek and display obsolete registry entries), I rate it a zero. That's because it isn't a scanner at all. The program is really just a registry search tool. There is no compelling reason to use it, because it does less than RegEdit. I do like the single file executable, and compact size.

Fantastic finder of left-over registry keys for uninstalled programs. Cannot rate RegScanner too highly. Works fast, clean on Vista (without compatability mode).
