Publisher's Description
WirelessKeyView recovers all wireless network keys (WEP/WPA) stored in your computer by the 'Wireless Zero Configuration' service of Windows XP and by the 'WLAN AutoConfig' service of Windows Vista. It allows you to easily save all keys to text/html/xml file, or copy a single key to the clipboard.

Especially in the instance of customer/clients not knowing or not remembering their network settings, this kind of tool is invaluable. I've come across many "emergency" situations that were literally business critical and had to be resolved ASAP - this tool has been part of my "kit" since its inception, and will always continue to be part of my "kit".

This is a good idea for a small freeware utility. Microsoft should expose this capability in Windows, though only after privilege elevation (requiring non-administrative users to enter an administrative user context that is password protected). While the utility could be abused by those who want to quickly snatch the wireless key off a PC they are visiting, they could enumerate those stored keys through other means anyway (provided sufficient access to the PC exists). Therefore, this utility has more legitimate uses than it does illegitimate uses.

I answer to that, if you have had your system running fine for a long time, you tend to forget your key as it is not something you enter every day. I find this program very useful. It is not designed so others can get your key. If they do, then you were not paying attention to what they were doing on your computer. I would ask, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

NirSoft makes some of the best, and most usefull programs when your job is to migrate people from different machines and they don't know any of their password that are saved.

I think you missunderstand how the program works. It doesn't pick they key out of the air, it displays the stored key on the computer. This is usefull if someone gets a new laptop you can simply pull the key from the old laptop. How many peopl edo you know that remember their WEP or WPA key? ;)
