There's not a ton of reason for it to exist though. It brings nothing new to the table that isn't already in a selection of other Win32 IM clients. And it doesn't have the clean and polished look or feel that some others do...

I dumped X-Chat some time ago after it become abundtantly-clear that it was simply losing stability with each release, and nothing more. I tried going back to mIRC but... ughh, so lacking nowadays.
It's not perfect, but if you're a tech or just the resident guy who gets stuck troubleshooting other people's systems, this is one tool to always have on hand. It does what it should, and helps you narrow down what component or drivers are...

Inferior sound quality is a big problem here. I've never understood why Foobar sounds so poor, and why no effort has ever been made to improvement either. It's a good minimalist approach to players though, and has fairly good playlist options....
