I did a fresh XP SP2 install from OEM CD in Vmware. No software or updates, just plain XP from microsoft. Went to cyberdefender.com for free scan. It found 197 errors. Errors that don't exist. This is scareware made to extort money from unsuspecting users. From the searches I did it looks like a lot of people have been taken by this scam. This works just like all the fake antivirus progs, it finds all kinds of problems but won't fix anything till you pay.

The only good thing is it uninstalls easily, at least it did for me. I have read that it's difficult to remove but I guess they fixed it.

I use Cyberdefender anti-virus. I got the free anti-virus scanner first off there website (www.cyberdefender.com) which found a lot of stuff on my system and got rid of the spyware and Trojans. I also had viruses, so I bought the upgrade which got rid of everything on my system. I also found that the paid one came with 24/7 computer help, which I used twice and they were very helpful. So, for me, Cyberdefender works great.

I know it's probably pretty much the same for everyone, but I use my computer for everything, but I especially use it for a lot of internet research. So I've noticed that my system has been running slowly and crashing a lot. I had Norton & AVG loaded on my system, so I never dreamed I would have a virus, but I did. Turns out sometimes the free stuff isn't all it's cracked up to be.

My neighbor recommended Cyberdefender to clear up my system (great another free one), but I think he might be right, but I want to be sure. So with the paid version it removes trojans and spyware, but if it finds a virus, you gottta buy the upgrade. I've had other ant-virus softwares that were free, and thy didn't protect my computer, so I bought the upgrade. When I did, I got ID Theft protection and 24/7 computer support. I already feel better as the MyIdentityToolbar has blocked me from getting onto a couple of hazardous sites. I'm glad i have it.

Really? An AV program that scans my computer for free but wants me to PAY to remove any malware found when every other AV prog (NOD, Symantec, Avira, Kaspersky etc.) will do it for free during their trial period?

Hmm... what other "AV" products have I come across that will scan my PC for free, always finding numerous infections but will not clean them unless I provide my credit card info..I can't seem to think of their names right now..

Was going to try it as it said it was Freeware. Dont know if anyone checks the programs before listing but, this is not freeware ! Didnt check the program because of this but cannot see any reason to pay when there are so many good freeware progs out there. I would strongly recommend that anyone thinking of downloading this reads the reviews given at the link listed in the above post. Come on Betanews take this crap off your website and stop them from ever listing again !
