An excellent tool for professionals, Works with any file extension types.
I am a self employed accountant, I like Folder Lock because it enables me to keep safe my clients personal information. It has so many protection features unlike other software in it class. After downloading and trying it, I was sold on its ease of use and how dynamic its protection features are, thus, I purchased it. I would recommend it for all work at home professionals who deal with personal information of individuals.

I bought this software to lock my folders because I used to consider encryption is a slow process and takes time. But I just got amazed by the speed of encryption in this software, its just too quick. I created an encrypted container of 50GB in just 20 seconds, phewww that was quick. I have never found any encryption software that provides encryption as quick as this one. So, if there is anyone out there who thinks encryption takes time (just like I used to) just try folder lock and you would know how fast encryption can be.

I have recently started using Folder Lock and I found it very helpful. I started with the trial version as thought it might be difficult to use and would require a lot of learning. Once I started to use the application, I found it quite simple and it took me no time to understand how it works and I decided to get the full version immediately. I feel secure that my data is protected with one of the best security software and I do not have to worry about my sensitive files while sharing my PC with my colleagues.

The encryption comes in an improved way in this version of Folder Lock. And the combination of history cleaning feature and USB protection makes it a great product for a home end user like me. Haven't gone for online back though. I hope it comes as good as it is advertised. Good work, though.

jetz must be talking about TrueCrypt. Who knows if Folder Lock has backdoors or not. But the FBI are spending big bucks trying to figure out how to crack TrueCrypt I understand.

I've been looking for a simple to use security product. This was suggested on a forum and I tried it. It does exactly what I want neatly and simply. Easy to install, easy to use and some really useful options. I was happy to pay for the full version.

I don't know what roymccoy is saying and why? I am using FL without any trouble, I am hiding some files in the locker, as well as locked a few folders on my PC, and it is working perfectly fine.

The last 9 reviews that rated this a 5-star software, are from guys that has NEVER reviewed anything else but (their own) this program.
And most of them members since 2008!? Hmmm...

Usually I'm not a fan of antivotiing, or unrelated reviews, but as others points out - these reviews are all made by the developers them selves - or someone in the chain on profit - of Folder Lock!

It's strikingly obvious, and annoyingly pathetic!

when I was using its trial version I tried all its features and after getting satisfied I now have bought its full version. I like almost all the features as they are for protecting my data and my privacy, particularly that password protected lockers cannot be deleted, move , edited and opened without the correct password. It ensures me that whatever I put in the locker is completely safe from getting lost or misused. I would highly recommend this software .

I'm loving every minute I use this program, I think this program has few negative reviews, all probably from competitors. I guess all popular programs always have aggressive competitors and that's why I love this program. It is most talked about encryption program on the internet right now.

I think some people are jealous about the popularity of Folder Lock, may be they are the competitors, I think this software is a comprehensive data protection application. I did faced some problems with the older versions but that problem was created by myself and thanks to the customer support who helped ma alot to get back my important data.

I usually don't do this kind of things, but this is too much. WAY too much.
Ok, here's the deal, 8 out of the previous 9 reviewers below me share the following:
- They ALL have rated this software FIVE stars
- They ALL have rated just one program in all of Fileforum, this one
- They ALL have registered to Fileforum the very same day they rated this program
- They ALL haven't done anything else on Betanews or Fileforum

Come on!
To the developer: this is not only CHEATING, but also being LAZY and STUPID.

ONE Star! (and I encourage other *real* members of Fileforum to do the same to cancel out the developer's "clones")

I have used TRUECRYPT, its totally a mess, caused me my very important data loss, just a waste of time, now using Folder Lock for last 8 or 9 months and found that its the most reliable and fast processing application, I like its gui and specially the stealth mode feature which is really very secure and useful, I would recommend Folder Lock.

the customer support is really great,faced a problem with 6.1.1 and contacted the customer support and they solved my issue within 24 hours,recently downloaded the new version and I should say that its an outstanding piece of work.....simply awesome.

I personally think Folder lock is an amazing security software with all the features which other security softwares does not posses,I have been using it for about a month and found it a bug free program,I also have used many other security applications to protect my data but they were easily crackable and were not able to give fool prove security to my data but Folder Lock is really a secure application or my personal data,its really a satisfying security software.

This is a superb piece of software that does exactly what it claims to do. It is safe and above all fast. I would recommend this program to anyone with sensitive data that can't be bothered with slow encryption programs.

I like the new version of Folder Lock and tried it fro a day and bought it as it worked fro my need.

Folder Lock is really an impressive security application I ever used,I searched and used many other file securing softwares but they all didn't match the standard of security which I like to have for my files and documents and Folder Lock provided me what I needed,this software convinced me so much that now I recommend Folder lock to all of my buddies,it not only secures but also acts as an anti virus for my protected documents.

I have tried out the problem mentioned before ( following the instruction to test the locking of USB drive). It is still broken. A dangerous situation can occur. Not nice.

Pros: The program sports nice colors.

Cons: Version 5.6 is almost as broken as version 5.56 and both versions STILL allow easy unauthorized access to your supposedly hidden, locked and encrypted files on an external USB device.

[Here's how to test for the problem]:

1)Install Folder Lock normally onto your computer and using the Folder Lock "browse" interface, install the program again onto a USB device.(this is the approved way to get Folder lock onto a USB device)

2)Start Folder Lock "from" the USB device. (this is the normal way to run Folder Lock from a USB device) and put something into the "Locker" folder and lock it or encrypt it.

3)Remove USB device as you normally would and Plug USB device into a computer that "does not" have Folder Lock installed.

4)Using Windows explorer you will not see the locked folder containing your files BUT...Use a file manager (like Total Commander or any other file manager) to view the USB device and, Lo and Behold, your "supposedly hidden/encrypted" files are easily viewed and accessable for copying/editing/whatever.

What does this mean?

It means: Anyone who finds your USB device can easily view/copy/edit all your supposedly hidden/encrypted files just as easy as using the mouse AND they don't need the password.

(Since version 5.56, the programmer did partially address this issue, but failed to actually test his work.)

If anyone doesn't agree, simply follow the steps above and become a believer.

(Unfortunately, I paid for this program some time back and probably won't be allowed a refund).

Buyer beware.

Good software, but i prefer the older liter version of it. i dont need so many features. Just locking of folders is enough for me.

Does anyone know of a freeware alternative to this. On the other hand, Microsoft should introduce inbuilt folder locking in Windows that should eliminate the need for this softwares.
