Publisher's Description
ForumPilot automatically grabs new posts from on-line message boards and allows you to read them using a unified user interface, very similar to your normal e-mail client. If you are a regular forum sites visitor, this can save you a lot of time. You don't have to open your browser and navigate to discussion threads of interest. You simply subscribe to the forums you like and receive new posts right to your desktop. All the downloaded posts are stored in a database and are indexed for fast full-text searches.

This software is useless, it has not been updated since january 2008, changes to the software that runs forums has rendered this software obsolete.
Don't waste your time trying it unless they release a new version (later than 1.11.061)

Hm, nice program, if it would do what I want it to.
I have specific forum where you have public categories and those that are only viewable if you login with your account. So far that works quite nicely.
BUT, for two of those subforums, my account has moderator rights and ForumPilot consistently tells me that there are ZERO posts in both of these categories.
I used the Feedback option twice, without ever receiving an answer.
So, basic functionality +2, login data work +2, but Implementation of Mod Rights -1 and Support -1

Works fine for me. Accepted the Forum details, allowed me to select the geoups I wanted and then downloaded the posts without any problems. Great program.
Only rating it 4 because there are areas that could be improved, but the program seems to be unique. The only similar offering I could find is Web Forum Reader - and that doesn't allow you to post on the boards, only read.
With a bit more work, and some interface improvements, this program will be a 'must have'

It installed fine and even seemed to recognize the forum I fed it (an InvisionFree free board) and download the various topics from the forum, but it would simply not display the posts when I clicked on the right hand topic browser. Using Vista Premium.
Rated 3/5 for semi-functionality and it;s potential once it gets this bug ironed out.

I tried it on 3 forums that i use the most and all failed.I give a rating of 3 (middle ground )simple because its freeware and would be very useful once working ... will keep tabs on future release.

Great way to reduce Google's Adsense revenue by letting you re-read postings without hitting the web site again and again...unless your favorite FREE forum site depends on their cut of those ads to support the site. Think about this before making heavy use of ForumPilot.
Only supports vBulletin, phpBB, Invision Power Board, and Ikonboard, but the *.frm files in the engines folder imply that additional types are in the works. Can automatically detect the type for those heavily customized sites which disguise their underlying software.
I'm usually uncomfortable storing any sort of login credentials in non-open source freeware, especially when the product site has no stated privacy policy, but ForumPilot appears to be produced by a shareware author with reasonable history.
Program takes just slightly over 9 MB after installation. Has the convenient ability to create a portable copy of itself. Speed and stability are excellent.
Two pet peeves: (1) The default theme is not the one named "Default" so why have one named "Default" to begin with? (2) You can customize the delay before a previewed message is marked read, up to 100 seconds, but you cannot disable this feature entirely.

Works great for "most" forums. It works as it is supposed to for php based forums but fails consistantly when trying to add an account for and asp based forums site running MegaBBS.
