I agree that the giant ad is inconvenient, but I suppose that can be alleviated by allowing the Active Search to stay on. Then again, if one is paranoid about it skimming through keywords in your e-mail it's just plain inconvenient either way....

I used to use AbiWord before I discovered OpenOffice which is a much more robust offering. However, if one has no need for an entire office suite, AbiWord has been and remais an excellent freeware no-frills alternative word processor.
