Publisher's Description
Virtual CloneDrive works and behaves just like a physical CD/DVD drive, however it exists only virtually. Image files generated with CloneDVD or CloneCD can be mounted onto a virtual drive from your hard-disk or from a network drive and used in the same manner as inserting them into a normal CD/DVD drive.

Doesn't seem to work. Even using it on iso images created by its own AnyDVD.

great program... i choose it over some of the more fully-featured programs like daemon tools because i rarely ever use some of the alternative image formats like nero or alcohol images... and if i have one that i need to mount, i just convert it with ultraiso. other than that, i like it because it's lightweight, free, and simply does what it's intended to do.
my only complaint is the incredible delay between updates. i mean... look at the changelist for this version (12-2009)... we have waited over six months for "added version info" (isn't this standard practice?) and "updated languages" (none of which i'll ever use). i can't complain too much since it's free, but there's pretty much no progression of development or adding of new features/improvements -- and if they do, they're so insignificant that they're borderline pointless. after 6+ months since the last version i'd hope to see "added extra image format support" or "added these 10 new features". yeah right! i'm going to make a program... then release a new version a year later; and here's gonna be my changelog -> "updated version number from 0.1 to 0.2".
just kidding. i love virtual clonedrive, nevertheless. thank you slysoft for this free tool.

Doesn't support jack s!it, no MDF MDS support, nothing.
Oh Yeah ! It supports opening ISO files, yoohooo! Even your WinRAR
can do that.
Just like all the other crapware from Slysoft, there are MUCH better alternative,
for free, and with respectful support instead of a******s.

Works exceptionally well with the image types it supports. It is light in its demands an has some nice features which makes its use a pleasure.

yeah, great program.. compact, free, just works.
i switched over to this program when daemon tools started becoming bloated and putting in all that ad crap and trying to trick you into installing their stupid toolbar and set this or that as your home page... i don't want that crap... just install the program i downloaded! plus having to reboot every time the SPTD layer or whatever was updated... (i vaguely remember sometimes having to reboot twice, but i could be wrong)
only small cons about Virtual CloneDrive are that it doesn't support as many filetypes as some of the 'other' virtual drives, but does support the main ones (iso, bin, ccd, etc). the other con i can find is that there really is not much that is configurable other than the amount of drives (up to 15 it looks like), whether or not the icon shows in the tray, save recent list or not, and if you want the virtual drive icon/label to show up differently (to differentiate between virtual/real drives).
but i've never had a single problem out of this program and i've been using it for quite a while. glad to see they added 64 bit support, running it now in win7 x64 and not having any problems at all.
will never go back to daemon, as i never mount video games or have the need for copy protection defeating features, etc. if you need those, then maybe something else is for you, but if you want a program that will take care of mounting your common types of images without a hitch.. this is what you want. don't think it even requires a reboot after you install it!

Magic Disc is excellent as well, up to 15 vdrives.
Works in x64 versions of vista and win7 too.

This was always a great virtual drive but it has gotten even better with context menus and the simple systray icon access even though I make use of neither.
Virtual CloneDrive shouldn't be confused with some of the other programs out there. It's purpose is for mounting images of discs but it focuses on CDs, DVDs, HD-DVDs, and BluRays. There is no emulation for games or anything like that. Virtual CloneDrive also doesn't make use of SPTD as does Daemon Tools & Alcohol which can be problematic.
Virtual CloneDrive simply does exactly as the product description says.

Best emulator ever seen, install in seconds,no need to reboot, fast and free, much better than Alcohol and others. Working correct with any CD image.
